I know I know...it ain't bike related, it's about a car...but it's not any old car...it's the Eco-Elise. A lot of it's components are made from hemp, which I think is a damn good idea.

https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Green-Cars/Search-Results/Green-First-Pictures/Lotus-Eco-Elise-first-pictures/

Hemp is getting recognised more and more as a very good insulator, for animal bedding, as a change from fibre-glass, etc.

So animals start munching on your car? Laughing

Anyway, isn't hemp what you pant to make wacky backy plants? Razz

Hemp is what you make from the bits of plants you don't want. Razz

I did a lot of reading up on this car as I'm quite interested in eco projects, especially those that do 60mph in less than 6 seconds. And the Elise is a great base for an eco car, because it weighs very little and for those in the UK, is produced locally so doesn't have the environmental impact of shipping.

The hemp panels are light (and laquered, so unlikely to degrade or be eaten Laughing ) and again, sourced and produced locally (very near to Lotus's base). I seem to remember that many other components in it are sourced and produced locally too. Unfortunately the only thing that isn't is the Toyota engine, though it's not had to travel from Japan at least, because as far as I'm aware that particular unit is manufactured in the USA.

I like the solar panels idea for producing the electricity the car needs too.

Best of all, it's about a million times more desirable than a Prius too...

Actually hemp is a separate plant to the cannabis plant - same family, although if you smoked it - I suspect all you'd get is rough lungs!!!

So the adverts at the top are what people request? Confused

Or does google randomly put ads there that are relevant to words in the thread? If so then i guess eco can be associated with fab and funky hippy clothing Laughing

Key words are picked up and adverts relating to them are displayed. So people talking about saving the planet will get hippy adverts. The advertisers stand a better chance of catching the right market that way.
