lock ups and wierd handling

everytime i brake hard the front just locks up and starts skidding along the floor, it happens if im hard on the brakes quick or if i brake hard progresivley, granted im brakeing harder than most cars but its only about 60% of the bikes potential then the front starts bouncing along the road.

Also the bike turns in fine, leaning to about 50% of what the bike can, then it falls really sharply, ive always stood the bike up and not kept the lean angle after its all of all sudden started to decide it wants to go from a 50 degree angle of lean to 40 degrees in about 0.1 of a second, so i dont no wether its got the grip to do that lean.

is it the bike or a combination of shit conditions and a front tire at the end of its life and probably getting squared off (rear tyres got about 500 miles on it)

i'm having the falling into corners problem, i know my bike is only a small 125 but it gets to a certain lean then seems to fall in, although i have noticed i've been looking at the road and not where i want to go a lot lately, due to shitty icy roads and damp patches, it just feels different and i've lost confidence in it.

Is the front squared off from all the hard braking maybe?

sounds like square tyres and on normal road riding tyres always square regardless of what other bikers will tell you cause normal road riding your upright most of the time, I would also check my forks shocks pads lever movement and caliper, yep thats a horrible feeling when the bike drops lower than you intended especially in the wet cause you first thought is its sliding, arrrrrrrrr, good luck

Check your front tyre half lyfe. It may not look squared off as such but may be mishaped from the camber of the road - i.e it'll have a steep side and a less steep side if you get me. I had problems with grip and steering wobble on my hornet - replaced the front tyre and the problem went away.

when you do 100mph in 30 zones lets see how well you handle your bike, o wait you dont do it...

granted im a dick for doing 100mph in a 30 zone but thats missing the point, point being he doesnt think i can handle a bike.

reading the road ahead when your doing over tripple the speed that everyone around you is doing... if i didnt read the road ahead and couldnt controll the bike i would be dead.

Questions asked and answered really! Just be interesting to watch the safety bunch take you on.

I know nothing is going to slow you down but at least spare a small thought for the possibility that while riding fast is great fun, sometimes you might need to slow it down and submit to the conditions of the road and your bike.

I hope you don't learn this lesson the hardest possible way, and put your skills into place to become a good all-round driver, owning people on bigger bikes with superior skills, instead of just being a lunatic which most people seem to think you are.

I am not one of the safety nazis, in fact I can't remember the last time I obeyed a speed limit to the letter, however I have learnt from experience there is a time and a place.
