Do you mean how to check and change the gear box oil, or the 2t oil for the engine?

Unlock the lock under the rear left side fairing, pull down the lever behind the lock and lift the seat to release, take the seat off.

At the front of the petrol tank just under neath, you'll find a bolt with the head on the right handside, undo the bolt using a hex key, lift the tank carefully, you'll see a tank prop attached to the left side of the airbox, release this and prop the tank up with it, you'll see where it goes.

Once you done all the above you should be able to see the oil tank, the cap will clearly be marked OIL on top. Just unscrew and have a look inside. Don't think there is really any need to change as it gets burned. Just top up with good quality 2T oil (I use Castrol Power 1 TTS). Thumbs Up

The OP asked about 2t oil for the engine, there is only one place that can go which I gave info on.

The other oil is gear oil which is filled from the top of the right crankcase behind the fairing on the right side of the bike.

As his bike is a newer NSR it is oil injection not premix so if he follows the info provided he won't have any problems Thumbs Up

There is oil for the gearbox, which is like engine oil in any other bike. It doesn't need changing very often because the gearbox is not under much stress and there is no heat build up.

The engine itself on the other hand uses a total loss system whereby the oil is burned with the fuel. Hence why two stroke bikes smoke so much. This means you need to make sure the bike is topped up with quality two stroke oil on a regular basis. There is an oil light on the dash of your bike that will come on when the oil is low. This light is difficult to test, and as such I wouldn't necessarily rely on it to govern your oil supply. If you run out of oil the engine will seize and you will have a LARGE repair bill.

I suggest using a fully synthetic two stroke oil such as Castrol TTS.

I know what the OP asked, but it's very easy to get the 2 mixed up.

Follow the instructions as nasty said once the petrol tank is proped up the 2stroke oil is the bottle on the right if its got the origanal lid on it do'es have oil printed on it. Check this ASAP if it runs out you will get big problems castrol 2T TTS is a good oil bit more expensive but worth it.
Has for the engine/gearbox oil if you don't know when this was last changed it also worth changing it uses 4 stroke bike oil like castol 4T fully synthetic only cost about £9 for a litre.
On the right side of the bike just above the brake pedel you will find a sight glass start the bike and let it run for a few minutes turn it off with the key not the stop button wait a few minutes hold the bike level and check the level on the sight glass marks. if the oil is a very dark colour its worth changin. it takes 700mls of oil once drained if your not sure on how too do an oil chnge just ask and l will run you throught it.

Yes it is more expensive if you buyit by the litre but the nsr only needs 700mls on an oil change so unless you don't mind payin £20 for 4lts and have it sitin around for ages you should go for the 4ltr tubs. Mr. Green

The best method to test your oil light is let the tank run down to the last 200ml. Then wheelie, the light will illuminate. At least that's how I found out the light works.

that's not the best way , but it works (what happens if it doesnt ?)
the other way is to take off the tank cap with the switch on it (not where you put oil , part 5 then , key on and get the float moving down , you will see if the LED lites on

Every time I fill my fuel tank I check the Oil and top up if neccessary ( "if neccessary"? I have to top it up every time I re-fuel Laughing ), I tend to go through about 1L of oil a month I think Confused but the bike is in use daily.

when the LED begins to flicker it remains in the tank enough oil to run 30 miles , so i dont see why you must lift your tank when filling it up
