everyone seems to slag of the mito compared to the rs i think it is the wrong way round. the cagiva is a lot better looking and a lot more powerful that the rs.
this is generally to see what others think about the bikes.
cagiva for the win |

A lot more powerful
The RS125 and Mito put out roughly the same amount of power. |

i dont think there has EVER been a direct comparason, but id say they put out about the same amount...
im biased towards the mito because i think they look better, and are less common and chavvy (To a certain extent).
want to buy a mito? ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

This topic has been covered on www.125ccsportsbikes.com loads of times with many members who have owned both bikes. Performance is pretty much identical in terms of both handling and power out of the factory of stock bikes (although there is a SP Mito Evo and a 'Racing' Mk2 Mito who claim more power out of the factory IIRC).
It all comes down to personal preferance, although I own an 2003 Rs125 I do prefer the mk2 Mito on the basis of looks only.

I think they are pretty valuable in terms of teaching people how to ride sportsbikes without giving them too much power too soon. This is in part due to them being amongst two of the best handling production bikes out there and are thus awesome fun to ride.
If they were such a waste of money then why other forum members i.e. Kickstart and Collywog19 own them? ____________________ R.I.P. Tareree Shiimi, 1985-2008 |

Hi
Performance wise they are within a gnats of each other. Generally the Mito came out in comparison tests as being marginally quicker, but the difference is tiny (and likely to be down to gearing rather than power, although on an early 7 speed Mito you could gear them for power without having to sacrifice as much go off the line). You would make more difference to performance taking the mirrors off than you would by swapping bikes, and you would make massively more difference going for an older and more powerful version of either.
Mito does seem fairly reliable, but can go bang. RS is pretty reliable if treated well (ie, service it and change the rings regularly).
NSR is mechanically more reliable than either (electrically maybe not) but also quite a bit slower.
I have an early RS125 (one of the first batch in the country), but to be honest looks wise the Mito Evo is better (indeed, I think it is one of the best looking bikes made, far better than the 916 effort).
All the best

I havnt ridden either bike, And personally not too interested. With that sort of bike / spec / power. Any gains are in the rider. The bikes are of a similar spec. And a similar size/weight/power.
Anyway, What is good about having a faster straight line bike? Surely the fun is in the handling.
Slightly off topic, But I had a kid come into my work the other day on his Aprilia MX 125. He Swore blind it was capable of 108mph, He was clocked by a THREE LITRE BMW on the A2. And its pushing 44bhp.
I told him it really doesn't do 108mph and what is so great about a THREE LITRE bmw clocking him.
He got really done in and started to get his helmet and gloves back on to ride away. |
