When i took my old grips off,the throttle side has these high bits on it:

Am i supposed to grind these high bits off?
Th oxford grip wont fit the way it is...Do i need different grips to fit this bike?
There obviously there so the grip gets a better hold of the plastic of the rev thing, but if i take them off will the grip still hold to it?
Thanks

Just force the grip over it, a bit of hairspray (slippery when its wet, sticks when it dries) and a rubber mallet should sort it out.
Cheers

Couldn't say what to do about the 'high bits' however my Oxford grips are glued to the plastic rev thing so they don't slip... ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

Argh,i knew something woould go wrong..
I ground out a little bit of the plastic ring right at the end just i can get the grips started, but it feels quite a loose fit.
Theres no chance of the grips just pushing on the way it is with the high bits
Why cant things just be easy. ____________________ DRZ-400sm |

Simply quoting the OP dear Odie, I myself am not a chav but if we all start calling the same parts different names it could get very confusing - therefore I decided to reply in the same manner the OP posted in, personally I call it the throttle or accelerator though. ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

I had to grind all the bits off with the dremmell.
I left some a little proud so it was a tighter fit.It seems to be ok now i have the super-glue in it.
All done and fitted now anyway.

Wire up the grips, turn them on and let them warm up. Should make them softer and easier to stretch.
If I couldn't get them on the bars I would just cut the protruding bits off and use grip glue to be honest. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |
