Noticed a couple of times that my clutch has slipped over the last couple of weeks, the oil looks like it could do with a change, would this sort it?
Oh and I recently topped up the oil as it looked a bit low, but I may have put a little too much in, could this be the casue of the problem

Could just be that the cable needs adjusting to check that the cable's adjusted correctly, but other than that it looks like new plates time.
On some bikes you don't even need to drop the oil to change the clutch. ____________________ My Flickr |

New clutch plates?? Bugger!
The bikes done just under 13,000 miles, so if the plates need changing what does that tell me? Is this normal wear or is it a sign the bike has been thrashed/neglected?
Thanks

Ok, thanks Keith and Big_Ham
So if I need to change the clutch plates, is there any specific type that would be better to go for? Would it be worth/neccessary changing the springs too?
What else would I need - Clutch cover gasket etc? ____________________ ZX6R F3 |

Hi
On a stock (or close to stock) bike I would avoid using HD springs unless you really need to (heavy clutch is a pain). There should be some specs for the free lengths of the stock springs in the manual, but personally I would doubt that they are worn out in such a low mileage.
Clutch cover gasket should be replaced. Tend to be cheap, but quite often people get away without changing them.
Many people advise sticking with OE clutch plates. That is up to you, but I have used others without problems.
All the best
