Was just running quotes on Confused.com for ballpark figures for something a bit more road biased for later next year, on a couple of naked bikes these guys came up as really cheap comparatively..

https://www.simplyinsurance.uk.com/

On a 955 speed triple, got quoted £267 TPFT.

That seems bloody insane to me - I'm 18 with a claim against me, that's based on having 1 year's NCB, which I'll have as of March (wont be getting a new'n 'til after then for sure)

£267? On a speed triple? What?

Anyone know this company? Are they legit? Next quote up was £800 or thereabouts.. Mostly ~£1000

Needless to say, I'm getting a speed triple if I can get insured for that little Laughing Mr. Green

I would run a check again just before you go and buy a bike. Ins Quotes are known to change quickly.

It wasn't cheap for me at all, I have just ran a quote through for a 2001 R6 and I am 24 with 1 yr riding and it came out at £966 for TPFT???

H&R quote £301.

Strange

In the past I've a few times had a quote from the MCE online system and they say "we'll try and match that for you"... Eh, but it's your own quoting system! They haven't always managed either and I even had a supervisor inform me it was my own fault because I'd tried a few different quotes (ie TPO/TPFT etc) and musu have 'confused' the system Rolling Eyes.

Aye fair enough - but they are consistantly cheaper for some bikes - mostly nakeds, but also my CRM - at renewal it'd be like £214 TPFT - but other quotes are nearer that (next up from it is like £300..)

Then a Kawasaki Z750, £267... Next cheapest being £680-something from pd...

They don't seem to offer quotes on sports bikes, though..

Agree it'd be worth checking by calling them - seems pretty weird!

Don't use confused.com... I've heard that all of the client sites store your details and give you and artificially high figure.

If you just got online quotes from those places without going via Confused, then you'd have saved more money. Unfortunately its too late now.

I find with gocompare and thebikeinsurer. Theres about 3 companies that seem stupidly cheap around 5-600quid mark the next few are 2grand plus. Seems odd how it can be such a vast change. The companies for reference are MCE. Falcon Bikes? and ebike

I used Confused for ball park figures.

Then I call people up..

Not even looking at getting a new policy 'til renewal, which is March

So not too late now!!

Sweet! If they still offer super cheapness come time then, I'm sorted!

Will have to give them a ring though, just to make sure something's not awry - it does still seem really weird that it'd be that cheap given my age/history, ahem.

i recently insured with simply they gave me TPFT for £490 ish where as the next cheapest was £500 for TPO and the next cheapest TPFT was £750.

Needless to say, i snapped there hand off at that, when the paperwork came through it shows the actual insurer was equity red star, which is who my first years insurance was with so i knew they were ok.

So like all the others all they are are brokers and may simply be cutting their commission to the bone on some bikes to get the buissness.

Just check the small print and make sure there are no excessive charges form change of details and cancelling.
It won't be the base insurer that causes problems with claims.... Its the broker you have to talk to and if they have enough staff to cover all the work.

I have had a quite recently from them for my VFR - and the website just seems a bit small - not enough detail on there about the policy details - although at the end i trawled through the pdf bit they had about the policy and it seemed like a good bit of cover.

Beaten the quote now anyway with Devitt, so just gonna wait to see what my renewal from Carole nash says and will probably go with Devitt!!!

Its all about the leves of cover - if in doubt - ring them and ask them about the levels of cover etc - make your mind up that way!!

I wasn't 100% convinced by the website that the company really has what it takes to please me with my quoted insurance to be honest!!!!

On my GS I was insured with MCE/equity red star.

Didn't much like MCE's dealing with the claim though, didn't hear anything through at all, or have to give my side of the story or anything, but then again I did admit fault (was kinda obvious..).

Was with MCD on the VFR - was the cheapest but still got raped pretty hard - £780 tpo @ 17 with one claim..

Then changed that policy over to the CRM, stuck for another £30 or something in admin fees - would have expected them to waive that given the fact that for a fresh quote on a CRM from them it was like £200~ TPO - but there you go. To be honest MCD have been good for me thus far, breakdown recovery was thrown in free, and they use DAS breakdown which I like - they use local breakdown recovery people who are really decent - except for one time, but to be fair the number of times I've had to use it with that pig of a viffer, I was bound to find the exception at some point!

But yes, seems they're all good then - just a little concerned if I call up to check it's all good and take out a policy, the price will be far more.. Realistic!

Heh, oh well.
