My CBR came with BT014's. I find them quite poor in the wet Sad . Not dropped it or anything but have had 3 sideways moments in 2,000 miles. Whats the concensus on this tyre?

My bike had '014's on, im not a 'hard' rider by any means but i did have the back end step out a couple of times in the wet.
When the rear wore out i replaced it with a bt021, considering its a sports-touring tyre i prefer it to the '014, its awesome in the wet and has a lot more feedback

Yes thats it exactly! Little feedback. I knew there was something else but as the tyres came with the bike, was unsure where the blame lay Thumbs Up Cheers guys Mr. Green

Have a '14 on the back, '10 on the front of the FZR, they're good for hooning, and I don't find them bad all the time on the commute. But I have had a few completely random times when it's broken away with no warning whatsoever. (As mattspratt can confirm) and to be honest thats probably worse than being consistently bad. So I'd agree with the others, poor feedback, very slow to warm up too, good if you like spinning up the rear in the wet though.

I think there awesome in the dry and ok in the wet but then again i haven't tired many tires. They do step out in the wet a bit but that just adds to the fun Laughing

Hated them in the wet, twitchy front and not too grippy rear. Didn't last long either! Not a patch on dunlops in my opinion

I've had two sets of 014s on a few bikes with a 190 profile. Previously they have seemed really good but this pair just don't seem as sticky - even when the weathers been good.

I had a pair of 015s (which apparantly replace the 014) on my 600rr when it came from the shop and they we're excellent. Only reasons I went back to the 014 was patience (014s were in stock, 015s weren't and I needed the bike, cost - a rear 015 was £150 just for the tyre and I'd had 014s before and likely them).

Update, just been cleaning the bike and realised the centre of my 014's almost bald.

So thats 600 miles of motorway and 500 miles of twisties.

for the past 1000 miles I've paid more per mile for my rear tyre than for petrol. Neutral worst part is I got a 014 put on the front a week ago before I realised how quick the rear had worn.

You are in the UK right? so 1100 miles in the last few weeks at ~4-6c has done an 014 in? What are you riding? Do you pin it off lights and brake heavily a lot?

I can get 3000 miles in the summer out of a rear 014 on a 600rr with lots of moderate/heavy riding.

BT-014s are a funny tyre. Confused

I really really hated them on my mates Z750. The front felt vague then felt unstable then back to vague in a matter of minutes. He's always complained about their performance in the wet or damp conditions. At the time I was hooning on a Bandit6 with BT45s so I had a good tyre ro compare them to.

Now I've ridden with a BT-014 front on the SV (~3000 miles) I can't really fault the tyre as I find it fine, with little sign of the syptoms affecting his bike. Perhaps it was a combination of geometry and tyre profile on the Zed that didn't suit. Mind you they do take a bit longer than I was used to to get heat in them.

FZR600R, the Tyre went on in late october, so there where a few weeks of spirited riding on it before the weather went to shit. I think I've done 2 very short burnouts, and I had it spin out probably a half dozen times when I was riding on ice in Lincolnshire, but other than that it's been short trips to uni and back, which dont put any heat in it, or motorway miles, at 1/4 throttle 1/3rd revs keeping a constant speed and not using the brakes.

Bad batch maybe.

I didnt like the 014's but the BT 016's i have at the moment are in my opinion a blinding set of tires, dual compound and so quick to heat up

I used to have 014s on the 7R, and I thought they weren't bad. I loved them in the summer, but mileage was poor at ~2000 a rear.

After that I was using Diablo Strada sport tourings which gave the same confidence in summer, better in the winter and lasted much longer.

The 10R has BT014s on at the moment and I did have butt-clencher exiting a bend in the wet this morning. I'm going to wait till the rear is FUBAR'd then get 2CTs or maybe BT016s.

standard fitment on the zzr1400, lucky to get 1800 miles out of rear and that's 1000 miles running in, I find the Avon storms excellent on the 1400 don't know if they will warm up quickly on a lighter bike, but got over 5000 out of the rear storm and better feel Wink

I had them on my 600 and 1000. I don't like the BT014's at all, the front end felt very vague and the rear didn't last anywhere near 3000miles on the 600.
As soon as i changed the tyres from the BT014's both bikes felt completely different in the corners, shed loads of confidence in the front end now.
