Farms and equestrian places are allowed to use electric fences and they generally run along public footpaths/right of ways...
I suppose it might depend on voltage??
If you did frazzle a potential thief, then I suppose you could claim a short circuit... ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Was looking at something like this a while back
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ELECTRIC-FENCE-ENERGISER-12VDc-To-1000-Volts_W0QQitemZ110347482097QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_BOI_FarmingEquipment_RL?hash=item110347482097&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1688%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
you could run it off an old bike/car battery
Hills motor salvage by my house has an ingenious setup basicly a 12ft high fence then about 1 ft behind that a 10000V electric fence.
So if you make it to the top of the first fence you grab the electric fence and get a shock. Then you fall and get pinned inbetween the first fence and electric fence. They will probably find you in the morning still getting zapped hahahaha
Search google for alarm mine
Basicly its a chunk of metal with a trip wire that fires blank shotgun rounds (or LIVE). Had one in my shed for a while after a few repeated break in attempts. Took it off after setting it off myself i was lucky i had my lid and ear plugs in.
If you are in the shed when that thing goes off you will retreat with perforated eardrums
If anyone wants to borrow it and have a play/prank someone just ask. Its a shame something of such amusing terror is sitting there doing nothing ____________________ DL650 Vstrom 2004

Yes but how to define a pre-fence.
Say one had ones belongings in, for example, a lock-up.
Which has a door, which obviously they would be trespassing, criminally damaging, and breaking and entering to get into. Is that considered a "pre-fence"? Or do you have to have a second fence-like structure with a warning sign regarding electrical protective devices on it immediately INSIDE the door?
Obviously you wouldn't want to put any sort of warning on the OUTSIDE of your lock-up: it would just be telling crims "Hi there guys; there's nickable stuff in here! Come and help yourselves " ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

He didn't say anything about a notice....just a pre-fence... apparently it's that pre-fence which allows you to go ahead with the electric fence. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

You would think....yes....but is it technically called a fence? No, people would call it a door...
I presume, if you got one of those hurdle type fences the council use around holes in the road, put that in front of the door, that would classify as a pre-fence. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |
