 |
|
5 days ago I went somewhere parked up went shopping....
Came out noticed it on its side bugger, no visible damage to the CBR R&G bung actually did its job, looks undamaged why oh why do people do this......
Then last night while taking the Africa twin tax disc holder off I thought hold on my CBR600 holder + tax disc is missing... foolishly I'd forgotten to put the poor colour photocopy tax disc on the CBR.
What do I do now? ...
I've checked the online thing and its not been cashed in and it is still valid... presumably ANPR will state my bike is taxed and such like...
So erm what do I do about it? , my initial thought is to stick my Africa twin tax disc on it on a more secure mount , dirtying the glass a bit , so that the reg is obscured... and riding until the tax on the CBR600 expires and then buying a new one when it is due...
BUT the africa twin is a bigger cc bike and thus costs more and the number plates are completely different my NTV had a number plate which differed by two digits only.
So that when traffic cop pulls me ANPR looks clean quick glance for tax disc its present (or seemingly present) ..... and can't do me for that.
I hear replacements are expensive compared to the £48 the tax costs for the CBR......
I presume I can't cash in the tax disc since I no longer have it......
As my thought was cancel it and buy another 12 months instead...
Any thoughts?..
Thanks.. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

I've never bothered with a tax disc on the BROS, I don't see why I should have to pay for a holder 18 months and counting.
Putting on a disc from another bike is going to cause you more problems than not having one at all, surely its going to bring up suspicions about whether the reg is right or that its been nicked. ____________________ NSR 125F > BROS 400 > NC30 > BROS 400 > Trumpet S4 > '97 VFR 750 |

Get it reported to the police and you will have to pay the fee to get a replacement.
As to it being used, most bike tax disks are unreadable for things like reg etc and it will most likely be in a car, just so traffic warden does not slap a ticket on for no tax disk as well....
As the have the anpr now, it should simply be a matter of paying up and not having to display. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Early last year I was fined £60 for failure to display the tax disc, even though it was taxed.
I explained politely that I hadn't put the new disc on because the last one got nicked (funnily enough in Manchester) and that the disc was at home. Made no odds, still got the fine.
I now carry the tax disc in the pocket of my leathers. ____________________ Current: ZZR1400

i would follow Louises idea , keep the disc in your wallet in the future cos unfortuately they are way to easy to steal from a motorbike.
Even better the Government could make motorbikes TAX exempt that wouls solve the problem. ____________________ Piaggo liberty 125 SOLD - CBR 125 - SOLD Aprilia RS 125 - SOLD CBR 400 NC29 - SOLD ZX6R currently own https://bikepics.com/members/Graprilia/ |

My tax disc and holder are in the garage and have been since I've ridden bikes!
Only one officer asked me about not displaying tax and I mentioned taht it gets tolen often so I jut leave it a home as£7 to get a new one is a bit unfair (on me).
He said ok not towrry, as long as it's taxed is fine.
Obviously you will get some shitty arse coppers, but most of them (from experience)are nice ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600
