dont hold me on this one, but it sounds like the carbs may need balancing. i asked a friend (who's a mechanic ) about it before when my E1 model did a similar thing .. mine was ok but deffainatley not 100 %. if you get the kit you might be able to do it yourself, and whilst in the process it might be worth putting in new spark plugs and checking your air filter ... all of which can affect the bike - and if things aren't right at higher speeds you'll notice them more (such as winding on at 80 mph)

might be worth asking your local garage to balance the carbs for you if you dont think you're able. - may also be other factors which would give you the problem though.

'I was doing about 80mph on the motorway, when I tried to accelerate, but it would not do so for about 3 seconds. Then the power kicked in and was ok. It runs fine a low speeds though. Does anyone know what my problem could be and have advice for me please?'

good enough?

Much better than the OP, sounds like fuel starvation or a flat spot, as you said replace spark plugs/check filter see how it is then then balance the carbs go from there.

just had another thought, and from the info about the exhaust in the email... could be that the carbs weren't set up properly when the exhaust was fitted. might be worth getting someone to dyno it to check,. but a general service and the carbs checked should see the bike running better
