Who's had any experience with one of these?
I'm looking at getting a bike again but would rather pick one up under the £2k mark. The ZX7R is a bike I've always liked and I wouldn't mind getting one.
Just wanted to hear about any positives/negatives with them. Am I likely to get anything good under £2k? ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing  |

How would one compare to a similarly priced ZX6R? ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing  |

Only just noticed this thread.
The ZX7R was the first 'big' bike I bought after my ZXR400. It was pretty daunting when I picked it up. Obviously loads more power, bigger and it was so uncomfortable I was aching after 50 miles.
However, after getting used to it I absolutely loved it. Fast enough to keep up with everything bar the latest thous in a straight line, and the front end is incredibly stable. I've hooned, commuted and toured on mine it's been pretty much perfect for what I wanted, and it's one my favourite looking sportsbikes ever. Since getting used to the seating position I now find it really comfy, and toured France & Spain doing 300 miles a day and had no aches or pains at all.
Downside, the front brakes are pretty toss, but sintered pads and braided lines do help a little.
I have two 7Rs and both of them have been amazingly reliable. The only thing apart from normal maintance that I've had to buy is a clutch for the P5 I have, that was at about 20k miles.
I'm selling my P6 on ebay at the moment if you're interested. I did want £2.5k for it, which I thought was a fair price for a fairly low mileage 2002 model, but since I binned the 10R and have some big financial commitments coming up I've put it on at £2k no reserve. Clicky to auction

Have never ridden a 6r B1, but reckon they would be on a par, other than the rear shock on the non 'H' variety of zxr/ZX7 is not as severe. Probably even slightly faster as the 750 probably has more torque, if not a lot more power.
Some people think that they are uncomfortable, but covered 300+ miles in a day one time and it was prefectly bareable.
Best run I had on mine was following Rhino and Davy on their B1s, never got out on it enough *sigh
Keep looking at them and thinking that I need to get one again, but the 600 is easier on the pocket, which when I commute on it, matters - maybe I just need to sell the Z1100 and get one that way
They can be thirsty buggers, especially compared to the 600s, but they are gorgeous ____________________ https://www.timhastingsracing.co.uk/

The 7R was a fantastic bike for me despite the odd little glitches to be expected with a 10 year old bike. Yep, the twin pots on the ZXR were so much better than the brakes on the 7R.
Whoring opportunity...

The bike may have been superseded in so many ways by newer and smaller cc bikes but they in my mind they are a rapidly becoming a classic sportsbike with looks that haven't dated that much. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |
