Well he ended up not getting the 250 and got this:

2007 SV650 for $3500, not bad for a 17 year olds first bike.

Yes the tyres bald as fook and I road it 40 miles like that but still and that plate is a temp one real ones are half the size.

I have to admit, I love it.

I really didn't want to like it and my only previous experience of one was a quick bimble up and down the road.

But after spending an hour on this I really like it.

Its not as fast or as strong as my 1000 or 600 but the way the power is always there is just nice.

His mods planned:

Remove rim tape
Nicer bars
Stubby can Mr. Green

Nice (apart from the rim tape, but that's coming off and the valve caps. Sick ).

Much better choice than the 250, he won't have to play catch up now. Thumbs Up

Are bikes generally cheaper in the states? Or did you/he just get a good deal.

Looks a nice bike, might want to have a go at the downpipe before it corrodes any more though Thumbs Up

Those aren't corroded they are just brown from heat I guess.

Whenever I've been there, vehicles always appeared to be much cheaper than they are in the UK and a lot of young lads drive bigger cars/trucks than they would here. Fuel costs a lot less too, even now.

Good choice as a first big bike at 17.

I really like the look of the naked one, think it looks a lot nicer than the faired new shape Thumbs Up

I reckon it need an undertray though

US regs, you see it on some grey imports.

Sensing a real hatred for smaller capacity bikes on the forum today...

Nice bike, but, what the hell is the plate doing there? Does that not interfere with cornering? Seems mighty low.

Nope, only restriction learners get is no passengers. But he is going for his full license.

Bish, its a mod people do here, came on the bike but my bro doesn't like it, with a real plate not a temp one like whats on there (real one is half the size) I doubt it would touch down.

Fitting a tyre today and no, no L plates.

Its 16 here to ride anything you want. Which shocked us when we first moved out here.

No L plates, you don't have to take an actual test in most states either.

Instead if you have a licence you can take a Motorcycle Saefty Foundation Course or the H-D Riders Edge which looks a lot like a CBT but with larger bikes and have M entitlement added to your licence.
