 |
|
Having just done a fairly irritating sightseeing tour of the nations motorways (M1, M6, M62... around 400 miles thereof) I went through quite a few average speed check areas (all suspiciously set at 50 ).
Anyway just a quick show of hands as to what people do in them. Baring in mind the cameras are designed to automatically take the front plates of cars, and therefore don't work on us.
Which then brings it to a case of whether you believe we get tracked/flagged as no-reads etc.
Anyway I've been generally going through them smoothly and merrily at 80ish. Enjoying the sheer fear in the cagers locking them exactly at 50 and thus static
I stuck to 80ish in the danger that piggies would somehow be alerted by a no-read (I was the only bike most of the time) pinging up as going faster and choosing to make an example of me. I also thought they were less likely to if I didn't seem to be going for the limiter in top the whole way through.
How about you guys? ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
From September 2014 to January/February 2015 I will not be using any English, nor reading any. As such, I won't be on here. PM at will, but I won't be checking/posting unless in emergencies. Certainly not for the first couple of months. Please berate me savagely if I break that rule... |

Hi
Tend to stick to the limit - ish.
Pretty safe from the cameras. They work off the front numberplate so with no plate on the front they have nothing to match up the 2 images to check the times and calculate a speed to flag up as dodgy. However if you are going much more than the cars then you will be very obvious to any lurking unmarked police car.
Also, take the mickey too much and they will make the effort to get SPECS to work with bikes (even if that means handing us all a bill for front numberplates).
All the best

The M25 cameras must be set at 80 at least. I've been through them following traffic at 85 on the Speedo and no flashes or tickets.
As for the average cameras i dont cane it thorugh them weaving because you might as well put a flashing light on your lid and a sign on your back "dry rape me now"
I do however make progress carefully where its safe. ____________________ (L)users...Disk space is to good for them.

there was a set just out of edinburgh, when they were altering the bypass, they were set at 30mph i used to ride through them every morning and night when i worked at the cockenzie power station,
i averaged at least triple that speed in the morning and atleast double in the afternoon,
i never once heard from the police, even after 5 months of doing the exact same route twice a day 6 days a week ____________________ the humans are dead

I do what you do, Especially that average speed check on the A40 westbound coming out of london, whatever speed i can do, i always exit by the camera in a different lane than i started in i heard that messes them up too.. ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

I don't do much motorway riding so I only come across them every now and again. So I tend to go at normal pace when in them, which for me is about 80 on the mways. If I was going every day and the camera was capable of recognising motorcycles then I would go at the speed limit as you are asking for trouble if you constantly do it.
I don't think they operate when there are no workers out, as at the start of January there was a set on the M4, myself and two of my house mates (cagers) went through them (on separate journeys) we each reckon we averaged about 100mph, none of us received any fines or the like. It could have been luck for both of them, but then one did go home the next weekend and went through them over the speed limit twice more.. ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R.
