https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7928807.stm

So some firms have been putting notes against people in the industry and then selling them on. Whats your thoughts (especially any in the building trade!)?

For me ina perfect world I think it would be a good idea, if it was fair and down the middle then if you are an arsehole and shit at your job you would be labelled as a 'shit arsehole'. Unfortunately its open to abuse and plenty of innocents will be victimised Confused

Sounds like a bricks and mortar version of Ebay to me! Wink

There are public websites like that already I think - my dad tried getting a painter off one, but it was too complex.

Bit of a double edged sword for tradesmen. If they complain about it, they'll be assumed to be a cowboy.

I'm not against it. Anything which reduces the number of shit tradesmen is a good thing.

if it was fair and honest, it could work but (as this seems to be for getting a employed job) if you fall out with your gaffer for whatever reason it could ruin your chances of getting another job!

If it was for the self employed then i cant really see it working, its just the same as word of mouth, if your good you'll get recomended and if your shit you'll loose customers/recomendations.

These "find a tradesman" sites are a waste of money too, you dont have to be any good to be recomended, you just have to pay the "advertising" company some money!

(i'm a self employed plumbing and heating engineer for the record!)

I don't generally agree with such things in that bosses and staff fall out (I've fallen out with 2 in the past 4 years) I left to put them out of their misery. But it didn't prevent them from black balling and telling all others in the industry how bad an employee I was (most of which was untrue).

But although karma doesn't exist , things can be tipped into action Very Happy so that they get burnt badly.
