hello to all,

my friend has a bandit 600 which i tried to get going today after it has been stood since last spring, obviously the battery was dead, so after a jump start and a bit of tinkering i got it going. the battery was brand new last spring but with the bike not being used and the battery being as flat as a witches tit would this affect the battery's ability to hold a charge? i ask because when i went out for the test ride, the bike kept cutting out especially slowing down, i also noticed some flatspots in the power when throttling up and the fuelling seems a little wooly, any suggestions greatly received.

Yes, leaving a battery flat will knacker it in no time. Sounds like it's just about got enough to run the engine, using the brakes is dragging the voltage down and causing the misfire (brake light draining the power).

Replace it before you cook the charging system.
