Right the bike has been hibernating for a couple of months, a few days ago decided to charge it up and the plan was to run it for a few minutes.

all i have done on the bike is removed a few bits, done some cleaning and not really touched the alarm.

i did accidently break the small LED light that tells you if the alarm is active etc as it was rusted it just snapped off. , which i have a replacement LED for but not yet fitted.

anyway, left it overnight to charge, try to start it, alarm sounds like it's disabled etc . .
try to start it and there's just an electrical 'buzzing' sound, this is the same sound i had when my battery was nearly flat when i left the lights on by accident.
i left it another night to charge, just tried it now, same result.
the lights come on bright and the charger shows it's fully charged.

either i've shagged the immoboliser or that stupid LED light is actually quite important?
just wanting abit more info as i've had no trouble with it since owning it and thinking of getting rid, untill i read around a see it's a bitch to remove aswell. i'm abit stalled.
on my day off i'll solder the new LED on there if it is actually important but apart from that i don't really know, fuses seem fine to Confused

Its actually very hard to shag the immobiliser

The LED shouldnt make any difference

When you disarm the alarm do the indicators flash, if not you have lost the fuse that supplies the alarm.

Disarm alarm does the fuel pump prime at switch on and starter motor turn when button pressed, if they do then the fault will not be your immobiliser.

Arm alarm switch ignition on, hot wire detect should sound alarm during this listen for fuel pump prime and press starter button, nothing should happen. If all this happens your alarm is OK and the fault is on the bike..

From experience I would say your battery is shagged.

Alarms rarely go faulty despite what everyone says, its just that people don't understand them and that includes 90% of mechanics and installers.

I'll second that, the buzzing you describe sounds like a starter motor not getting enough juice. Bike batteries are not hard wearing at all and if your battery has had it the charger will think it's fully charged because it can no longer take the required charge.

Brill that does clear it up quite abit.

it does prime when i turn it on
the indicators do flash and it beeps when alarmed / disarmed

i thought the battery was quite weak last year, if i didn't ride it for 4-5 days it would go flat.

however if i turn the lights etc on they come on bright and ok.
i guess the starter needs alot more power though . .

so new battery it is then, thanks Thumbs Up

Spot on, the starter needs way more juice than the lights etc. A battery that flattens in 4-5 days is in technical speak, buggered Laughing
