do you want them?
im talking about ESP, ABS, TC, etc. basically, look at an expensive car that can do the same speed as a bike and it usually got all of those things, let alone cars designed to go quickly, Just look at a evo or a ferari, theyve got so much stuff on them, off the top of my head yaw control.
I know a fair bit about what they all do and practically none of them could transfer to a bike.
But do you want stuff like ABS or traction control on your bike? Its already here in a way, suzki / yamaha ABC modes, ABS on hondas.
Do you prefer just you and your bike, back when carbed bikes were around, or do you prefer all the technical weight saveing big bang engine technology stuff? ____________________ follow my racing season

I want my bike to be as basic as possible, im not even fond of having the electronic start ( there is just something so satisfying about a kick-start ). Good old dials not digital readouts and carbs not FI would adorn my perfect bike. ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

Hi, i like gizmos. I'd like to have the choice to turn them off tho.
On my perfect bike i'd have a HD monitor with an array of preset 'clock views'. Before my journey i'd select 1 from my touch display, whether its an analog view or dig. I want to check my tyre pressures and alter my preload electronically, same with abs and traction control.
A live traffic update to my onscreen satnav and a quick glance at the rear facing camera view before blasting off
Pat
thats what i'll order after i've won the lottery ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

If you want basic, one of the bikes I've been lusting after recently:

Absolutely nothing that's not needed to make you go/stop as well as possible. While you don't have to be a manly god to start it, if you can use even 75% of what it's capable of, you certainly are one! |

Hi
ABS is a maybe, the rest not really.
Not sure that traction control could transfer over easily. As far as I know it relies on sensing a change in speed of the front wheels relative to the rear wheels, while with a bike as you bank over you land up on a part of the tyre with a different radius (so the wheels speed up) and with different tyre profiles this change of radius is likely to be different front to back.
All the best

No,
I don't think there's anything that can be done with a bike to improve safety which is anything as effective as paying attenmtion to the road.
No technology will save your bacon if you're doing a 150+ wheelie in the direction of a hedge.
I'd be more nervous knowing that there's a cpu unit that may make decisions for me, becuase I trust myself to get it right.
I think, though, technology could defintely be used to improve the security of bikes. Immobilisers should be standard etc. Really, we should be at the point where you can only steal a bike by carrying it away and even then, all you could do with the bike would be break it, as it would be impossible to get started without the key/ or as password or something....It really should be a case of needing to know a password to get a engine to operate.
I'd be in favour of that, anything which would mean I could park overnight without worry. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.

I love the k5 1000 as it has the right amount of gizmos.
Gear counter, decent efi, and digital dials and a slipper clutch (not electronic but I like it).
The power setting thing on the new ones is a nice addition all though rather pointless if you know how to use your throttle.
Traction control is not needed on the road and hardly any one will take advantage of it on the track, its just something to talk about.
But I'm loyal to suzuki and will always love a good Gixxer regardless of tarty bits. (Reckon my next Gixxer will be an RK like Pups) ____________________ ◙◙► K6 GSXR 600 ◄◙◙◙◙► K5 GSXR 1000 ◄◙◙◙◙► K5 GSXR 600 ◄◙◙◙◙► 96 RF600r ◄◙◙
