oil change problem

Hi, i picked up some light gear oil today from my local bike shop. The guy in the shop said it was fine for my Yamaha DT125X.

I've changed the oil but now when i start the bike & put it in gear the bike creeps forward while you hold the clutch in??? It creeps forward like that for a bit & then just stalls. It was fine before i changed it.

What have i done? Crying or Very sad

The DT is 2 stroke right? , what oil did you use and what did the manual say? , in that some bikes do not tolerate synth oil very well others do like my XT apparently.

And can cause clutch slippage, the fix is just to flush it through 1-2 times with the proper oil.

Yeah it's a 2 stroke. It's Silkolene light gear oil. On the back it says "gear oil rating 75W-80W" & "crank case rating 10W-40".

The guy in the shop said it was ok for a DT, but now i'm guessing not.

Before you do anything else have you checked the clutch cable for any extra adjustment ie adjust it so the bite point is father from the handle bar. Do this so you eliminate this possibility first , adjust from the top or the bottom of the cable.

If its not that I'd probably phone up a Yam dealer and ask them what THEY would use in the DT125 and say I'll be down this afternoon , if it is different to that which you used give the bike shop guy an ear full.

The gear box oil tank is usually quite small anyway so flushing it won't take a massive amount of oil.

Right, i got some oil the local dealership suggested. Undone the sump nut to drain the oil out with no problems. Starting tightning it back up & SNAP! Bolt has snapped inside the engine Crying or Very sad

It didn't feel like it was threading or tight when i was doing it. FFS! Brilliant couple of days i've had lately.

Any suggestions on what i should do know? Do you think it's a shop job or should i take a look myself??

Don't dt's not have a sump? I thought that it was just part of the crank case.
