Robby, yes I do, there some thing like 250 disks on a 14inch wheel so no room to monover, and the only way i found out was by getting down on my hands and knees and shining a light from the other side through the wheel and on to the back of te disk and even then I only managed to see what was up because I could see the holes in the disk.
And to you all laughing at my stupid mistake, just to make it even funnier when I did that one I wasshowing Clo how to change pads so go on laugh away lol I am.
One of my other spectacualar achievements was managing to fit a Rear wheel in the wrong way and only realised when trying to fit the chain to the disk, luckily there was noone around to notice lol
Come on don't be shy.
Cheers

I did the same thing on my first scooter, apart from i shot down the road, went to stop at the junction and found that i had feck all brakes and i went straight into the bushes opposite.
A while ago i was changing the c&s on the xr, all went well, fitted and lubed perfectly so i took it out for a test ride. Every time i accelerated the bike wanted to sort of 'crab' sideways. When i stopped to inspect i noticed that i'd forgot to put the axle nut on and the axle was half way out. I bashed it back in the best i could and steadily rode home secretly screaming at myself in my lid.
Now i always check that it's tight twice before i go. ____________________ One day i will rule the world, just not today. |

You plank!
Although a friend (who by the way is as dumb as you sound) once refitted the rear wheel of his GSXR600 K1 minus one large wheel spacer. He did however find it at the end....but decided he didn't know what it was and as the wheel 'looked' okay, he wouldn't investigate where it had come from.
So next rideout he stops and mentions a real bad 'wobbling'. I rode it for 300 yards and nearly died laughing.. it was totally unrideable.
He managed to fuck the gearbox output bearing and wheel bearings completely. Knobhead. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

Okay, I will share too
When I was 15 and just got my first scooter. I thought I would service my scooter myself. So off I went taking everything apart, then I thought I would clean my air filter.
So after cleaning this foam air filter for ages, it needed re-oiling. Me being a thick shit decided that if I used a small amount of 2-stroke oil it would be a cheaper job than buying some proper air filter oil! (Sorted )
Yeah I looked mint when my scooter wouldn't pull away when cold, and was a bugger to start! But I never thought anything of it.
I actually sold the bike still like that Took me a while after untill I actually realised what the problem was. Now I just hope the new owner finds/found the problem. ____________________ We are the Patriots! Love your country. |

That's really quite spectacular
My closest equivalent was after having changed the carb on my 125, I rode to lakeside and back; on the return journey, it bogged like a bastard once I got over 5k rpm. Deeply frustrating for the other rider, on his Bandit 1200 - we could only go at about 45 because of the bogging.
Anyway: I discovered two days later that I'd forgotten to do up the jubilee clip on the connection between the carb and the airbox: it had shifted about a centimetre out, and was blocking off about 40% of the air intake.
I felt a right spoon for that one... ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |
