Joe (Torque- forum name) from here had his bike written off about 6 weeks ago. Someone pulled out of a side road into his path. Bike written off, just waiting for an insurance assesor to come out and make it official.
Here's the stuff we got up to waiting for the cheque to clear-

Got to check out the bike, didn't look too much different than before the accident tbh, well apart from the forks
https://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6613/img0578b.jpg
Here's a little into a rebuild of his shitty 50cc chopper
https://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1857/bild0003i.jpg
Didn't bother putting the original air filter back on
https://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4287/bild0005g.jpg
Changed it for a water bottle with a rag in it and mesh on the end. Perfect.
https://img27.imageshack.us/img27/7636/bild0006.jpg
More of the bike together to get it to a rolling chasse
https://img7.imageshack.us/img7/6618/bild0007p.jpg
Another water bottle to make a windscreen to deflect the potentially massive windblast.
https://img27.imageshack.us/img27/7846/bild0010f.jpg
Finished screen with gaffa rim tape
https://img4.imageshack.us/img4/601/bild0012i.jpg
We got bored when it wouldn't fire up, gave up in the end. a few days later the cheque was clear and this is what 3k in awesome cash moneys looks like.

Took ages getting to Northampton from Eastbourne, but this was sat on his driveway when we got there, his custom Max that is going to be in some magazine this month. Reckons he's spent about 40k on it so far. Is stunning in real life.

Custom almost everything, here's the swingarm and rear wheels, plus the ohlins shocks

A little close up of the paint job and instrument panel

Front end fairing, USD forks, massive bars and custom front wheel

Full view of the beast

And here's joe's slightly more standard bike

Side on shot of joe's bike showing clear covers and aftermarket pipes. The pipes are a bit rude, louder than my SV for those who remember it.

Our bikes at a petrol station
https://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9757/bild0027.jpg
On a ride yesterday joe's bike decided to not bother charging, he had to bump start it after every stop.

https://img4.imageshack.us/img4/9035/bild0029.jpg
The petrol station was about a 10 minute walk away, but it was up a hill. Vmax's arent the lightest bikes.

Gotta go for a ride now, tata

So you wrote off an Z750 and bought a V max? Hmm... you're a braver man than I! Laughing

I'd love a go on one, but I don't think I could ever own one unless I was a millionaire or something. Still, looks like a nice bike! Thumbs Up Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

It only took about 5-6 weeks from crash to cheque arriving, was relatively quick. Their offer was a very good £2865. An obscene amount more than the bike was worth, as those who saw it not long before the crash (or at any point really) will know.

His new bike is surprisingly agile considering how large it is and shit the tires on it are. It does actually corner way better than you would expect it to.

And yea the gixxer is mine, bought it off rob just over a month ago, he's getting out of road bikes and hasn't ridden it in about a year. Already done about 1400 miles on it Laughing is far superior to the SV in every way. Makes me smile every ride.
Got a fair amount of pics from todays ride which Joe should be putting up here when he gets home.

Thought it looked like his as it was the anniversery version paint scheme. Came standard with a Yoshi can with removable baffle IIRC. I love the k5, pure sex.

How is rob? he out of road bikes or bikes all together? When you get it off him.

And yea, cant wait to see this Vmax in flesh!

The max is indeed a bit of an animal, and today at least it seemed to work properly and go round corners at an at least respectable speed.

Couple of pics from our little hoon today...
