Is it possible.
I can get a full system for the ZX6R at half price, the only problem is the can is coloured Ti.
Is it possible to polish it so it'll be plain Ti again(and not look shite)? ____________________ My Flickr |

Ahhh ok, when they have colour cans like that, i believe all they do is heat treat them at different temperatures to colour the metal. (same way that your headers go brown, blue, purple etc).
So if it is anodized or just heat treated, it will polish out with a bit of elbow grease ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!! |

Can't think of any other ways of coating, apart from powder coating but i seriously doubt they would use that (judging by that pic, it definatley isn't powder coated anyway)
Anyway, all of the processes used to coat/colour metals generally only have a shallow penetration. As i said with anodizing i believe it is only around 50-60 microns, which is actually around the size of a cock hair (yes, thats how bored we get at work...and when you work in an engineering firm you find all sorts of stuff to entertain yourself with )
My bike has a full Ti Akra system and the header and link pipe has gone an amazing blue and purple, but as soon as it gets to the can it stops. So if you polish it off, it should stay a bare metal colour (it may tarnish a bit so just re-polish it but it won't need much doing) ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!! |

Don't really mind if it goes a little darker, I just don't want it to go back to the stupid horrible purple colour.
Thanks Matt. ____________________ My Flickr |

Just got off the phone to him, it's just anodized so I'd best get busy with the Autosol. ____________________ My Flickr |

D-D-D-D-Dremel.
I'll give the wet and dry a go on the back of the can in case it comes out crap.
Waiting for an email now. ____________________ My Flickr |
