I took my zx9 down a green-lane on Friday, so no excuses for you .
Erm, cheap trail tyres, go to your local tyre place and ask for the cheapest trail tyres.
If you're not too bothered, you can probably get some tyre that have got masses more grip than yours, but less than a new one for not much more than free.
Your wheel sizes aren't ideal - it's disappointing they've not gone for 'proper' dirt bike sizes. So, err, front tyres from 85cc 'big wheel' bikes should be fine. The seventeen inch rear will be more of an issue, but I suspect there may be a few on ebay or similar. |

What tyres are on there now?
Seems Maxxis https://www.maxxis.co.uk/ are about the best 'cheap' tyres for offroad from what I have heard ... also look at veerubber https://www.veerubber.co.th/home/index.asp got some of those n my trails bike and they are pretty good, arguably better than the michelins (the long standing leader in trails) in the mud, just not as hard a wearing in the dry. ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Its the front that you will lose in the wet on roads if your tyres are too knobbly, but even with a really offroad biased tyre on the back, you are unlikely to lose grip on the road.
Offroad, its more important to have a knobbly on the back than the front, so something really knobbly on the back and more road biased on the front, is a good combination in my opinion. |
Surely a full knobblie (road legal) is the BEST/better tyre in the wet not the worst?!!? |
not on the road its not, as there isnt much rubber in contact with the road, so its very easy to lose traction
the best tyre in the wet on the road would probably a race scrub wet tyre, they have a lot of space for water, but they also have a lot of rubber touching the road
knobblies dont have much rubber touching the road so its very easy for the tyre to break traction and slip ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |
