One thing you should keep in mind is that a 2-stroke (yours is a 2-stroke right?) is very heavily reliant on the length and shape of the exhaust.

Basically the exhausts are 'matched' to the porting etc of the bike, sling one on from a totally different design bike and realistically at best it'll run rough, at worst it'll run lean and you will blow it up!! Shocked

You'd have to be really lucky to find one from a random donor that just so happens to work properly with your motor (not fit - WORK) and that will actually increase power etc and not reduce it (which I assume you are after?).

In short, you are stuck with buying one for your bike or taking a massive gamble on if it will work. Its not just if it will fit, its if it will match your bikes tuning!

So if you can't get a zorst for your bike, then just knock the baffles out and ride it round until you can get a different/bigger bike!! Wink

yeah it is a 2-stroke.
yeah i didnt want to sink £150 odd on a exhaust if it weren't gonna work. but because its some chinese make theres not a lot in the way off "upgrades" so to speak on the internet.

im not to bothered about it bumping up the power or anything. just want it to finish off the look of the bike, because the stock one is rather crappy looking.

but obviously i dont want the power to suffer from buying one that wont work properly.

would it be worth asking in a garage if they could have a look and tell me what exhausts would work etc?

thanks for your help, leigh.

I doubt a bike shop will know either!! Wink ... these chinese engines are normally copys of a Jap engine, any idea what it is a copy of?? If so then its probably a reasonable gamble getting a zorst from the 'proper' engine and seeing if that fits?!?

All this aside, the bit that is important on a 2-stroke is the 'expansion chamber' i.e. the big fat bit .. the little silver silencer on the end really is just that and doesn't have such a catastrophic effect on how the bike runs. If you found an end can you liked the look of, then you could happily chop the original end off and get someone to weld on a nice looking one and it shouldn't carry the same risks as a full system swap!! Thumbs Up

That might be an option?

If its an RS50 engine, then a RS50 'zorst should be ok engine wise, its just down to physically if it will fit your chassis ...

Do you know someone who has a MIG welder? If you only know someone with an ARC welder (or have one yourself) then there is a good chance its gonna either look sh1te or fall off again ... so get a quote from a local engineering place before spending out on donor zorst.

At the end of the day its just metal that is used to getting hot, so it won't harm the exhausts, its just trying to get the job done 'properly' that is your greatest consideration ...

If its an RS50 engine, then the RS50 exhaust should run absolutely fine (might be checking the specs of the main jets) its more if it will physically fit the fairing/frame/mount.

Get a quote for the welding before you buy anything, but you will want it welded 'properly' if you go that route. Thumbs Up

Also I don't know how monkey metal the Chinese expansion chamber is ... again your local welder should tell you if its feasible when you get the quote ...

Just looked up what one looks like (in a big pic)

I think they look well cool for a 50 ... also I actually quite like the stock end silencer thingy!! Laughing ... it is a bit 'droopy' mind ... perhaps just get them to weld it at a different angle?

yeah they are pretty sweet, yeah thats the 08 or 09 one though, i have a second hand 05 one and the exhaust needs a bit of
TLC. but i cant get a nice finish on it like that. i recon a beowulf chrome exhaust would look sweet if it would work. would finish of the look of the bike dont you recon?
