My rear disc brake has suddenly stopped working...
It seemed to be rubbing that night, and when i come back to the bike in the morning it now does not work at all...
There is fluid in the brakes.
Deos anyone know what it could be...and how to fix it....?

fill us in more, what do you mean by not working at all? when you press the pedal, it goes all the way down, with no brake at all?

brake fluid leaking?

OK, I've never owned a bike with rear disc brake, but isn't there's a way to check fluid level?

Either a leak of fluid ie no pressure to the back.

The pad surface fell out due to knock off pads causing the fluid gap needing to be filled which pushed it below the hole in the master cylinder.

Or something else easiest way to check is your brake fluid level if it is the same then maybe its something else.

yeah i checked the break fluid and there is fluid in there. If it was leaking there would be none in there at all surely..?

when you push down the brake there is nothing it just falls, and i cannot feel it putting any presure on the brake.

Check the pads.

EDIT: Just had another thought; Is the brake lever actually moving the piston on the master cylinder, or has the clevis pin gone AWOL?

Sorry for being obvious...

You know there's two resevoirs, one for the front and one for the back? The back one is under the seat.

Harold_Shand's theory might be the best explanation.

if it was the pads would it have suddenly stopped working..?

And i will have to check the movment on the piston not sure about that.

And yes the break fluid for the rear brake on my bike is right next the the brake lever on my right foot.

if the pads have worn down, the break would have slowly got worse over time, not suddenly stopped.

you could have an air bubble or a blockage in the break line if its completely failing ? thats a bit unlikily though.

i think what Noxious89123 said is your best bet:
"Is the brake lever actually moving the piston on the master cylinder, or has the clevis pin gone AWOL?"

good luck.

When my break went i blead it through and nothing. Ended up need a new mster cylinder. Blead it through, see if its that, If not seals might have gone.

Try working your way back from the the operation. Ie your pedal. and check everything, Usally works for me.

You say it's been rubbing (I'm assuming you mean dragging). How badly? Could be that you've overheated and boiled the fluid?

Sounds like there's some crud stuck in your seals and your calliper needs to be stripped and cleaned (happened to me recently). Also, if the seals have gone, then air could have got in that way.
