i recenitly bought a 1985 honda xr100 motor for 50$. the only thing that came with motor was an ignition coil (with a black wire coming out of one end and a spark plug wire out of the other end) there is also a black wire coming out from behind the flywheel of where the points are that splits in to. this is the points type of ignition by the way. so im woundering what else would i need to hook this up and make it run? could i just conect the black wire coming out of behind the flywheel to the black wire coming out of the igntion coil and then put a spark plug cap on the end of the spark plug wire. would that do or not? or would i need something called a condenser or something... thanks.

https://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp i dont really under stand that diagram it shows like so many differnt wires on it but i donno. and just to tell u this is a single cilender bike that has never had lights or anything onit, not even a battery, just a kick starter, so ill the ignition system should have to do for me is make a spark.

Yep that sounds feasable, connect the black and bolt the coil to the frame (earth) put a cap and plug on and see that big spark, dont go delving into the flywheel area yet ,thats where the points will live ,may need adjusting Thumbs Up

yea i had to replace the points on it anyways im ordering them now. i have a kill botton off my newer xr 100 right. to hook that up would i just put one wire off the kill botton in the other wire coming out of the flywheel. (since theres 2 coming out of there one that hooks up to the coil and im Guessing the other one could hook up to the kill botton and ground the other wire of the kill bottom to the frame. could i do that? and how do i test if the stator coil and points are working (becuase im not that shure that the points are gone ( the guy said they might be) ....... so then i could test if i even need points or not ....thanks
