Hey all,

how often do you all check your tyre pressures.
i checked mine on Thursday night and both the front and back were about psi below what they should be, i took the bike out and covered about 30 miles. on the route back i was finding that when taking right bends the bike felt like the back wheel was sliding out or rolling on the tyre. Well i checked the pressures today and they were both approximately 4 psi below. I appreciate the weather has got some what warmer but should my tyres change in pressure that much (they have been checked when cold)
also is it the tyre pressure that aremake the bike feel unstable. Im not hammering the corners by the way

I check mine about once a week, occasionally need a couple of pound back in them. What tyres do you have, and what pressures you putting in them?

I really do need to get one of those tyre pressure things. I got the one on the pump. But its not 100% right as it like 6 years old.

I don't check mine often enough....... Neutral

I check mine everytime I remember to. My bike seems to react quite a lot to low pressures, more than my other bikes have done anyway.

I got my new hoops on a few weeks ago and after a hundred or so miles I was blasting along at a fair rate and the front started to feel very wobbly. A quick check when i got home showed just 32psi in the front. Its supposed to be 42psi front and back.

If you get a pressure tester make sure its got a right angled adaptor on it as this will make it easier to get onto the valve Thumbs Up

Oh and don't trust the free air machines at places like tesco, our local one is about 5psi out. The ones you pay for should be better but I would still take my digital gauge with me as a reassurance check Wink

Thanks guys. For the answers. If it's not the tyres that are causing the instabilty what else could it be

When I had a CB500, manual stated for driver only it was 29psi Front / 33psi Rear. (driver+passenger was 29psi Front / 36psi Rear).

I would say try letting them down a bit.

When the mood takes me....

But as it happens after fitting a new chain today, i decided to check them.
Handling has been as bad as ever on the Avon Roadriders....
Read 25 front & 36 rear.
Should be 33 front and 40 rear according to Avon. So i have pumped them back up again. Will see how it handles tommorow on the way to work.

Must have been at least 3 months since last check... Confused

Unless they are BT45s, where you want 36 front and 42 back. Bridgestone issued updated pressures after further testing.

Do try to check your pressures when your tyres are cold, ie. before you ride off. If you ride a mile or two to the petrol station, your tyres will have heated up a bit, and your pressures will be incorrrect.
