Hi!

My GS500e something doesn't start first go. I switch it on, hit the starter button and I here a single *click*, I release the starter, and hit it again and often hear the same *click* a few times, and then eventually after retrying a few more times, it turns over and starts. The battery is in very good shape (new and it's kept on an Optimate too).

Any other ideas?

My guess would be the starter relay , remove it should be no more than two fat wires and one plastic connector. And have a look for copper corrosion on the terminals.

If you can swap another one over to test, the Haynes manual I used to have said something about hooking it up to 12V and it should click once if its ok and click off when the power is removed.

my divvy does this when the batteries low or its been used on several short runs and allowed to cool between them. i found charging the battery helped but i dont use an omptomate.

When my old gs500 did this i rocked it back and forth whilst in gear, i thought it was the starter motor cog getting stuck and that in my mind freeded it up
