Hi
Well to be honest it doesn't sound that bad, I did not get my own transport till I was 19 I did get to borrow the familiy car sometimes and use the bus.
Hair cuts we usually done by mum. For work I mostly workin the family shop very early morning before college to markets to buy stock.
Saturdays were spent in tescos to pay for stuff.
I never dreamed of being able to afford to go on holiday and I was not badly off in my peer group.
You just want more. You have what you need and have to learned you can't have all the toys
Regards

Yeah I know what you mean, but I know what the real world is! It would just make it a Fuck load easier if support was given a bit more, then I wouldn't have to experience the 'real' world so much. And a hair cut isn't exactly a lot for my mum, but a tenner for me is two weeks petrol. It all adds up so quick, and with coursework all the time its just like give me a break ____________________ Journalist, student, egotist.

Mrs Kickstart: From your idiolects, you sound from an older generation so I will assume that your peers were in a similar position, so you cannot really compare - my peers mostly own cars which their parents paid for, half dont even have a job and get more than me. Just pisses me off, thats all, when I am constantly acheiving more than them. ____________________ Journalist, student, egotist.

Hi
Another way of looking at it is many of those cars will be on credit. Some of those people are really going to struggle over the next year or two maybe your parents are trying to make sure you have a bed

Generic final comment to try and blunt the harshness of the previous statements

Honest opinon - i think your being a unfair whiney twat,
up your hours for work on a sunday, sundays are crap anyways.
I have no lie in any day now unless i book the holiday off, i love a lie in, but must get on with life and money.
Your mum and dad expect you to pay for everything because there not a handout service, they've been supporting you for the last 17 years, you have a job you just need to budget your money blatently. Moped maintenance, thats something you take on as your taking the sole responsiblity riding it, besides your repair bills are hardly high my 50 i worked out in 12 months i spent 3 times what i paid for the bike things fail because there not maintained which inturn costs more!
My mates are in cars and that and im walking atm while the 50 is knackered and gettin lifts, its a bummer but its life, ill get over it i feel disapointed with myself on that level too, but there always as skint as me from fuel etc. ____________________ Past: '05 Peugeot XPS '99 Aprillia RS125 '94 FZR600R

On a limb, Im going to guess you didnt pay for the moped yourself.
You're clearly a kid striving for attention for your achievements. Well thats all fine and dandy, but how about you up your own securities and be happy in the fact you're achieving well.
Oh no, the parents actually expect something apart from an ASBO or, "you did your best". Theyre providing push for you. Take it on the chin and use it grow, Mr. Achiever.
You clearly understand what effect your post would have and have anticipated the responses. Which means you're pretty smart, and have already put the cynical replies in the bin, and will ignore anything not positive.
We understand, you need to rant. Just wait until you've got some real responsibility sunshine, you'll look back on this and think "Christ, I had it pretty easy."
Bit of perspective and attitude evaluation goes a long way. ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

Erm its pretty normal.
It only gets worse as you get older, you will meet bullying bosses, people who will break your heart , be treated like dirt by colleagues.
Have to smile at being abused , go into work when you are really ill heh I remember 2 years ago when I had the flu and I was weak as a kitten and still had to go into work I could barely ride, so kick back and enjoy your youth while you can...
your parents obligations generally ends at 16 , it might be just the boot in the pants you need to seek and attain something better.
Ie in a manual job I can earn max about £200 a week , in a white collar job this goes up substantially but you get stressed as a result. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. You could be happy with what you have achieved. The problem may be you can’t see the reason for it. Achievement for the sake of it (or to keep up with whoever) falls short for me.
I think it’s good to have voiced your frustration; it may lead you to question things. It could also be process of growth and understanding.
I would not be so quick to judge what life is like by your limited experience. There is a whole world out there of ideas and experience you are not exposed to. Amongst other things I went to India for a few months during my younger years (I’m 33 now). Had a great experience. It made me realize just how different other cultures are, and that there are many ways of seeing things.
So I try not to take a negative attitude toward things that don’t go with my plan. Its life after all, what do I expect?
I guess that’s what keeps it interesting.
Ultimately I think Life is what you make it. If it wasn’t we would all agree that a certain experience has a certain value.
I think people say “life is shit” because it’s easy and widely accepted within this culture. It also give people the feeling they can “Tell you” about something, and give you several obvious examples.
You’ll get the best ones during a recession.

| Quote: | Now our little boy came up to his mom
In the kitchen this evenin' while she was fixin' supper
And he handed her a piece of paper he'd been writin' on
And after wipin' her hands on her apron
She read it, and this is what it said.
For mowin' the lawn, five dollars
For makin' my own bed this week, one dollar
And for goin' to the store, fifty cents
An' playin' with little brother while you went shoppin', twenty-five cents.
Takin' out the trash, one dollar
Gettin' a good report card, five dollars
And for rakin' the yard, two dollars
Total owed, fourteen seventy-five.
Well, as mom looked at him standin' there expectantly
And I could see the mem'ries flashing through her mind
And so she picked up the pen, and turnin' the paper over
This is what she wrote.
For the nine months I carried you growin' inside me, no charge
For the nights I've sat up with you
Doctored you, and prayed for you, no charge
For the time and the tears
That you've cost through the years, there's no charge
And when you add it all up
The full cost of my love is no charge.
For the nights filled with dread
And all the worries ahead, no charge
For advice and the knowledge
And the cost of your college, no charge
For the toys, food and clothes and even for wipin' your nose
There's no charge, son
And when you add it all up
The full cost of my love is, no charge.
Well, when he finished readin'
He had great big old tears in his eyes
And he looked up at her standing there and said
Mama, I sure do love you
Then he took the pen,
And in great big letters
He wrote PAID IN FULL.
Lord knows when you add it all up
The cost of real love is, no charge...

pyx_e, good point, hang on a minute ill just pay my barber's with love. Then I'll ring up PayPal and tell them the NC30 I just bought was with love, so It's okay. Oh, and BTW, it was my mother's choice to have me so she accepts full responsibility for cleaning my nose, as I undoubtedly will with my own offspring.
Unclestoo, if thats all you can pick out in a paragraph then your right, nuff said.
Too everyone else, thank you, I realise life could be shitter and life could be better, but is there any short term solution at the moment? Because it sure is hard to just keep going to college, keep going to work, keep doing the shit things I dont even like for a better future that isn't even guaranteed.
