There is a lot you can do to an ETZ to make it faster but it's largely a waste of time and effort.
Oddly, the exhaust design on those MZs is as near to mathematically perfect as you'll get. Even racing MZs usually retain the stock exhaust.
Their main problem is they can't rev up to where their powerband ought to be mathematically due to the length of stroke and the weight on the crank. It would take serious engine work to do anything about this.
As I usually say. It's a cheap, honest 125. Just ride it as it is. Tuning it will just decrease reliability.
You might find that gearing it slightly lower will actually increase the useable speed. They were geared high from the factory to improve fuel economy. As such, it can be tricky to get them going fast enough in third to hook fourth while in the power. Net result is that if you land up in third, you can be stuck there until you get to a hill. Dropping a tooth or two on the front sprocket can make it easier to hook top gear. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
