laquer...nibing back and finishing off?

hi all,

at the last stage of the re-spray....ive got the 3 coats of laquer on i needed to...

at the last stage as i think it will dry slight ly bumpy shoud i use 1500 wet/dry paper to nib it bak gently and then use the fine rubbing compound to bring the shine?


of corse ill leave it for around 2 days before doing this....but any painter out there?please advise.

If youve got orange peel, and bits of crud in your top coat layers, by all means take it back a little, I used to use 1500 on a DA disc or 2000 wet and dry sheet for this taking it all back to what looks like a misty/matt top coat, (careful around panel edges and parts which will natually have less paint on them like corners etc) then polishing compound, and if a dark colour a wax may be needed.

will take the laquer back tommrow when its properly dry (left for rougly 48hrs)...

Just remembered, Use something flat like a block or make your your using your hand as flat as you can, dont want uneven nibbing on the topcoat, can sometimes make it look wavy if you put pressure on certain parts of your hand.

had a bit of an upset yesterday with the laquer....

put all the pannels outside and one acterdently fell face down on the grass and left loads of deep marks in it...

left it another 3 hours then sanded them out and sprayed over laquer again.


im going to leave them hangin to atleast tommrow night i think...he laquer is still just to soft!
