Hi,

My battery went flat about a week ago so has been charging on a optimate 2. Since then it has started fine but was left on the charger for the next 4 days or so.

I went to try and turn it on after this and it went from 3 days on 'happy face' on the charger to 'unhappy face' and the bike wouldnt start at all.

So I went out this evening and forked out for a new battery, put it in but because of the Datatool System 3 as soon as I tried taken the battery out it went crazy and even with a brand new battery the ignition wouldnt turn on.

The real catch is someone was ment to view the bike tonight who was keen so as you can imagine Im pissed off.

Please can someone help?? I rang the garage that fitted the Datatool in 2003 and there are on the other side of the country and isnt a Datatool dealer as far as i know locally (Banbury).

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thumbs Up

EDIT: After reading the manual I have a feeling that the fuse in the Datatool is gone, anyone agree/know the location this usually is?

If it is anything like mine it is just in a little inline holder near the alarm unit Thumbs Up Should be obvious to spot, follow the wires back from the alarm unit.

If you can get it into service mode that should give you an idea. (2 Bleeps for fuse/Power failure)

There is a smallish black box not that far from the alarm but the screws on it are tiny star shaped one and I do have tools of that type but they dont go that small Twisted Evil

The more i read the more i reckon ive blown the fuse when charging the battery but its pooring at the moment so going to wait for that to stop before having a good Thumbs Up

Fitter should have noted the fuse position in the paperwork when it was fitted.

Did you get sorted?

The fuse on mine is in a cylinderical holder with a twist-off top. One of those glass fuses.

Harold_Shand's theory might be the best explanation.
