I believe so. Although I could be getting confused with the ACU regulations. Confused

I'm pretty sure it will as it's there to protect pedestrians.

In theory its a fail, comes down to how well they do their job.

Quote:
An insecure brake control or mounting. Attachment screws loose or missing. A cracked control lever or mounting.

a control which is inoperative or so damaged, positioned, bent or shortened that the brake cannot be readily applied

deliberate modification which significantly reduces the original strength of any component. Excessive corrosion, severe distortion, a fracture or an inadequate repair to a component.

I guess, according to interpretation, any of the above could be used as a reason for failing.

Bit of epoxy resin formed on the end into a ball will sort it. My mate did a few of my old ball less levers for my DR and they lasted longer than a new lever would've. No problems at MOT time either.

hi,
as above.
but i've used araldite metal putty.
quickly sand the old lever.
form the putty into a ball shape & stick on the end.
dries in grey, almost metal coloured.
then a quick spray with whatever spray paint you have lying around. (silvers best obviously)
tester wont know the difference.
probably last a few days though, lol
if you dont have any of the above stuff lying around, probably be cheaper buying a new lever.
i know of one mechanic who has the remains of a lever or 2 in his workshop.(the ball shaped part)
& when he takes your bike for the mot, he just glues the ball on!
cheers,
GAZ

ball ends on leavers are only a requirement for racing, not MOT

the end has been busted off the front break of my armstrong for three years & the guy who MOT's my bikes (who's a real stickler & fails it on something new every year, even if he passed it the year before) hasn't mentioned it once

If it's stabby, it should fail. Unless it's an ancient bike, in which case OEM stabby is allowed. Old bikes were better because they were more stabby.

Just file it down so it isn't sharp, I'm pretty sure it would pass then.
