Calling all ZXR 400 owners

I need a little help. This should possibly be posted in the workshop section but figured i'd get a better response here.

Right, you've possibly seen a post a few days ago that I bought a ZR400D Xanthus at the weekend. It's basically a ZXR400 motor in a rather odd looking frame and with very budget feeling suspension. The motor is a wee cracker and generally the bike is good so I quite fancy fitting a new rear shock and forks.

So, i'm looking for some dimenisonal info from your ZXR if you know it or could possibly take measure ments for me:

Rear shock
Overall length
Top and bottom mount width and pin diameter.
What adjustment does it have

Front forks
Length
What adjustment do they have
Brake caliper hole spacing

Yokes
Distance between top and bottom yoke
bearing mount diameter
Fork leg spacing

I'm also potentially looking to raise the rear ride height so i'll either be looking to make a spacer bracket to fit the ZXR shock (if it fits my bike) or maybe finding a bike with a shock of the same dimensions as the ZXR but a greater length. so if you are aware of a shock that fits this description i'd be delighted to hear about it.

Gearing is the next question.
I'm finding that I could do with higher gearing. I'm getting into the red in top gear at just over 100mph and at 60mph i'm sitting at almost 8,000 revs. The chain and sprockets are almost new so I don't want to add the expense of changing both sprockets so ideally i'd like to go up two on the front but although I have the clearance inside the sprocket cover the slack in the chain will only allow for 1 extra tooth.

My current sprockets are 15 and 46. Would I be right in saying that a ZXR400L has 15 and 45? If this is the case then it looks like the internal gearing is different which is no big deal - i'm not trying to turn in into a ZXR, i just want to reduce the revs at cruising speeds and give better handling performance with the upgraded suspension.

yes standard zxr400 is 15/45 not sure on the rest

That the gearing sorted for now. I got two new sprockets this morning, a 16 and a 17 tooth. They both fit on but the chain is too tight to run the 17, it'll maybe be ok once the inital stretch has slackened it off a bit. For now the 16 tooth is at least slightly better than the 15, giving me about 5mph more top speed on the flat and has let the revs fall ever so slightly at lower speeds. I might order up a 43 for the rear at some stage but for now i need to concentrate on the suspension.

One source of info would be DMC (Dunfermline Motor Cycles). Those guys know more about ZXR400 than anyone else in the Country, haveing worked on so many via Knockhill
