Hi

How do i check if the power valve on an aprilia sx 125 is working as it should? The bike seems to hit a bit of a flat spot at around 8000rpm.

How much of a flat spot? Does it manage to pull properly after 8K?

hi. yes it still pulls but it is not as aggressive as between 6k to 7k and 7k to 8k. As it hits 8k the engine note changes slightly (lower) and the power flattens a bit rather than increasing at the same rate as before.

Should there be a significant power incerase after 8 k if the valve is working correctly?

Hi

It should continue to increase. There might be a bit of a "delay" around 8k, but it shouldn't be much of a delay.

Find the solonoid under the tank and check that it moves around 8000rpm (you might want to ride somewhere without anyone around....).
