Went to go out today and got about a mile and a half before i started having problems. Theres nearly no power in the top half of the rev range, I have to apply full throttle to do 40mph when normally this would be acheived on barely any at all. I've sprayed wd40 in the plug cap to make sure its not water getting in. The thing thats confusing me is it was fine yesterday and didnt even hint at giving trouble

choke is definately off as i never use it, im wondering if its the points have been set wrong by just enough to allow it to run, but cause something that over the last 500 miles has made it run badly and ive just made it a bit worse?

Headwinds seriously decrease the performance of the CG if you're doing 40+ speeds. I use the dual carriageway at least four times a week, the same hill on a good day can be 60, on a bad day can be 50-55, and if its seriously windy can be as low as 43mph in a low gear some times.

I don't know if this is the cause of your problem but it's something to consider Smile

First thing i'd check are brakes. Not binding are they? Then check your airfilter is clean and seated properly.

i had similar problems yesterday, i started thinking that it was the brakes sticking , but turned out just to be the wind (has a drastic effect on light bikes). if its definately not the wind causing you a problem it could be a slight fuelling problem maybe cleaning out the carb would sort that but i wouldn't go taking it apart until you know for sure Rolling Eyes .

its most certainly not wind, its an engine problem as i was going down hill at the time and there was very little wind. I parked up and revved it up, and it got to the limiter and 'bounced' very slowly :S I'm wondering if some water got into the carb somehow (it was very rainy yesterday) and its blocked the jet now. I have no air line, and no carb cleaner, so cant clean the carb out, may strip it down and as i do that itll dislodge any crap in there Very Happy

stripped the carb down, all the jets are clear, so im wondering if the emulsion tube has gone oval and is now letting too much fuel through, the problem seems to be at the top end of the rev range, when on saturday there was no problem at all Confused the only other thing i can think of would be a knackered coil or something like rings/burn out valve. anyone got any ideas?

Is it possible one of your valves is sticking, or has burned out? If you want a hand with anything, drop us a ring Smile
