Bought a lemon! Zesty, mmm...

I bought myself a 53 plated Ford Ka a week and a half ago, for £1600. 78k on it. Look ok, few bumps here and there, but the motor sounds sweet, and the oil is clean. Running wise, it's sound. But didn't take long for problems to start appearing.

The radio doesn't work, or rather it does but the voume is at 0 and the volume + button is broken. Got a new one for £5.87 on eBay and some stereo removal pins for 99p. Sorted, 5 minute job.

The most annoying problem is the heater is stuck on full blast, regardless of the position of the temperature control nob. Did a bit of reading and seems that the heater control valves are well known for failing on ka's / fiesta's / cougar's / puma's / transits, as they all use the same part.

Had a look at the car to see where it's hiding, and spot a disconnected wiring connector. Aha I thought! Maybe it was repaired before and they forgot to connect it. Haha.

No. The cheap wankers just bodged it and bypassed th valve by joining the hoses either side of it together with some hose connectors and jubilee clips. Clever maybe, but not the point! Just spent £33 on a valve, so should be able to sort it this weekend.

As it is, I'm driving round in a mobile sauna, even with all the vent closed, the fan off and all the windows all the way down.

Atleast the breeze windnoise makes me feel "at home"

get ober to ZSOC.com, ignore the chav shite and look in technical bit od the forum. theres a different part number for the revised HCV i belive.

Minor problems though, could be a lot worse, open the vent nearest the passenger window and point it that way, tape over the rest for now.

Well, people have made threads for much more redundant topics than buying fruit.

On buying a lemon, my first big bike was a lemon too, after I bought it, I basically had to buy another one in the form of new parts to fix it with.

The Ka is a womans car, but you show me another 1300cc car that is group 2 ins.

Would rather have a 1300cc "womans car" than a 1000cc "chav mobile".

Had 95 out of it, don't dare go faster, it feels quite flighty at that speed. Good fun car though, just have to rag it through all the gears

To me it feels like a giant rollerskate, but to someone that has driven anything sportier, it'll feel sloppy and slow.

The engine is over 40 years old pushrod engine coming from an Anglia I think and the chassis is from a mark 2/3 Fiesta I think. It's made out of old spare parts and was given a ghey bodyshell.

A mate of mine has one. To go up hills he has to turn off the a/c.

Bit of a running joke with his, within 24 hours of owning it he put it into a tree, then last week ripped a hole in the left rear quarter by going over a narrow bridge.
