Hey Guys,

Am I right in thinking I shouldn't of purchased this item XFX HD 5450 512MB DDR2 VGA DVI HDMI Out PCI-E Graphics.. | Ebuyer.com. I ordered it to try and get displays working. One HDMI, The second DVI and the third VGA. Im having trouble getting the third monitor working.

The reason I purchased this card was that it stated it supported ATI Eyefinity. However, im confused and don't know what to try now. What do you guys reckon, or should I send it back and get a card with display port so I can add the VGA by a diplay port vga converter. Im confused.

Any help will be muchly appreciated.

the Eyefinity cards usually just have 3/6 HDMI ports on them. The fact that yours has a port of each type probably means that it's a choice of output methods, rather than being designed to use all 3 through the use of various adapters. That is, it has 3 output ports, but can only display 2 at once max. This is backed up by the maximum resolution of: 2560 x 1600, which would have to be split over the 3 monitors.
The specs of that card show it's crossfire ready which no doubt means you'd need 2 of those cards to support eyefinity. There's a review comment saying:

Ordered a couple of these to replace two mismatched cards in my system to drive three monitors.

I'm running a 5450 and there was some weird combo of which outputs you could use and which you couldn't. I think it was that if you wanted 3 monitors, one had to be displayport. It was a while ago so I'm a bit fuzzy, but I definitely bought a displayport monitor for some reason around then!

I ended up with 1 x displayport, 1 x hdmi and (I think) 1 x vga (I'll double check the vga tomorrow, there might be an adaptor involved - the dp and hdmi I'm sure of).

Better than chucking the screens away when you buy a bigger one Smile
