How long does it take your tyres to heat up ?

After reading the thread "Low Pressure" on here I was wondering how long it takes for your tyres to heat up?

The reason I am asking is because you are supposed to check and alter your tyre pressures when the tyres are cold, however; I stay 2 miles away from a garage which does a free air and water machines.

I have ridden to this garage a few times and checked the tyre pressures, and have always worried if I was getting an inaccurate reading because the tyres will not be as cold as they would have been when I left the house.

Will this short journey make any difference ?

Not a lot I wouldn't have said, in fact I dare bet that the guage at the garage is probably not that accurate anyway.

you worry too much, are you knee down to the garage or something, my front was too low and gripped great, sorted it and it was slippier umm!!!

Ride to garage, leave bike standing for 5-10 minutes then do the pressure?

I run Nitrogen in my tyres. I check the pressures every few weeks but have never had to adjust them since using Nitrogen.

The only difference is, You have to run the pressures a few PSI higher than you would with normal Air. Because Nitrogen doesn't expand like normal air when the tyres heat up.

Buy an electric fag lighter pump cut the ciggie lighter end off and attach crocodile clips. don't trust the dial gauge's get a decent digital pressure gauge they aren't to expensive and a lot more accurate.

An old rule of thumb was to put 10% more in warm tyres i.e. 28psi would be 31psi warm etc...
