Well my bike needs alittle tune up so I thought I should finally get this done, its a cbr600 and I want to clean and sync them myself. I've been looking on the world wide web and found this:

Would that actually work??!!
If so, couldn't I make it in a smaller portion? Like a third of the size?

Hi

You could make it a third of the height if you used a liquid that was 3 times as heavy by volume. Mercury was often used for vacuum gauges partly for this reason.

Yes.

No & no.

It is a very accurate way of measuring the vacuum difference between two cylinders but if there is a fair imbalance, the water/oil will move quite a long way up the tubes (that's what makes it very accurate). Long tubes = oil not being sucked into your carbs.

You could make a simple, single tube manometer and balance them in pairs. Balance them so they are all the same as #1. (so balance 1&2, then 1&3 then 1&4). Throttle adjuster mechanisms vary so you'll need to see how your particular setup works.

Oil is lighter than water so would be even worse.

Okay now I'm getting it. Awesome! This will same me a couple of hundred bucks. Dealers near me wanted $300+ to clean and sync them.
