alright everyone was wondering if you can help me,
I was just riding home from work in the rain and my ns125r started sounding really weak like it had no go until it got into the powerband, i then came to a junction and she just died Sad . i then tried to kick it off but it wouldnt so i tried bumping it off it did start but just died when i stopped reving her. so i just kept the rev's on put her in first and rid home. she did sound little bit weak but was still pulling OK. when i got home i checked the spark plug and it looked fine and check the spark again looked good checked the compression that was also good. when i kick started it after i put the spark plug back in and connected it made like aloud poping noise???? when i bump the bike and it starts i have to give it rev and it slowly picks up the rev and then revs normaly but as soon as i put her in neutral and release the throttle she dies??? has water done oat to my bike as it was raining very hard but before all this the bike was running spot on that day from starting it upto leave work, it was only when i got close to my house that it stoped working properly ? any help please Smile

Hi

HT lead is the main thing that suffers in the wet. However if it did then a fair chance that you would have got quite a shock from it when holding it and kicking the engine over.

Does it have the original airbox? If not then K&N style filters can be a real pain in rain as they get wet easily and give you a far richer mixture.

All the best

Keith

it has got a new spark plug in and makes no difference. if there is a spark at the plug wouldnt that mean the ht lead is fine ?

Hi

Might not be a spark when it is under pressure. You shouldn't get a shock, especially when holding it with pliers. Not sure if the NS HT cable can be easily replaced. If it can they generally screw in.

All the best

i havent changed the ht lead YET. how ever prior to this problem am in now i had a problem with the bike shutter through revs of 5000rpm to 6500 rpm and this problem started from me running out of fuel , kieth suggested that there is a good possibility in that some crap from the bottom of the tank had gone into the carb and got stuck in the jet. Now i was wondering if it is possible that the jet has fully blocked and fuel cant get through , although when i bump the bike it will start after a really good push but i have to keep the revs on otherwise she will just die. when i am reving it though it does sound sort of weak????? thanks phil

Entirely possible. But all you can do is take the carb off and clean it. Seems a bit of a coincidence though that the problem happened when it was raining.

All the best

ok so i took the carb off and took the bowl off and it was clean as a whistle. look through the jet no blockage was refitted it and tried bumping it off she did start up however the same problem came once i had stopped revving the bike and it died Sad so i am going to replace the ht lead and see what happens then. If i replace the ht lead and its still the same what eles could it be ? thanks phil

Hi

Low revs means low throttle, so will be on the idle jet not the main jet that you checked.

All the best

Hi

Depends on the exact model of PHBH carb.

Exploded diagram here:-

The key is in Italian but think it is 8 or 9 .

All the best
