twin carbs are "easier" to do with a carb tool, but can do 4 carbs with a 2 carb sync tool Smile

plugs... i dont think people really notice too much difference..
my standard plugs are £2.29 each, iridium £9.19...
i'd rather save the cash... but ive never noticed a diff on my GS

Iridiums are dearer but last longer so the cost is the same in the end. OEMs use em now to increase the service intervals.

Yes only 1 per little box.

Iridium do prove to be better. My engine was flooding plugs every 80(ish)km for months, someone recommended using an Iridium one, it was a long shot and all I got from the know-it-all's was "It won't make a different", "Waste of a money". It proved effective and I've had the same one for 2000+km

That kind of suggests that you're running too rich, as opposed to your plugs being rubbish.

An iridium plug was better in the NSR than standard, but the Bandit didn't seem so keen on them and lost a little of its 'zippiness', I found.

Yes Iridiums ARE superior to stock plugs and yes they cope better with overrich fouling but its a small improvement.

The main benefit is longevity over stock plugs.

Bear in mind that cleaning iridium plugs is a no-no, they are soft iron coated with iridium, scratch through the iridium and the plug will eat itself.

They are more resilient to sooting up but only marginally.

Carb balancers come in all shapes and sizes and costs! I use a Morgan carb tune (4-way) but only because I don't like burning my fingers changing hoses over.

Remember, if doing an IL4, that you'll have to balance carb 1 to 2, then 3 to 4 and finally 1 and 2 to 3 and 4.

Cheers

the morgan carbtune was on my shopping list as apparently it's good Smile thanks for the heads up grim Thumbs Up

edit:

just thought i'd fit this in. the bike idles but after a while there are intermittent drops in the revs, like it's going to stall and then just go back to normal, any idea what causes this? (hoping that the carb clean and balance will sort it)

thanks guys.
