Got a XS750 in a sorry state.

Idea being to get it running at turn it into a rat bike...

A few questions before i start.

Arrow Engines oxidised, whats the ideal method to remove this without spending £££. Could i get a good result by just using a High ph liquid and a bit of elbow grease?

Arrow Air cooled engine, I would idealy like to paint it black. So my thought would me painting it in a high temp paint. But would this act as an insulator and result in a big bang? Or would it be ok?

Arrow With regards to the frame. could this also be just rubbed down then painted out of the spray tin. or would it be a bit of a cowboy job?

Arrow First point of call to get the engine running again. Would i be right in thinking i should start by getting a battery on it and obviously replacing the oil, petrol, and filters. Then checking i get a spark?

If anyone could shed some advice on the subjects. I would be very much appreciated Thumbs Up Karma

Google "osborn pro wire wheel" Its like a wire brush in the shape of a grinding disc. It will fit on to your grinder and you can apply more power than using a drill.

Also, my old man has one of these bikes and the plugs seized in the engine. It had lay for a year or so but the plug actually snapped in the engine. Total bastard to rectify so its just a suggestion to try before you start all that hard work

Good luck fella... Thumbs Up

... ...

Ok, Mr. Green

How did he go about getting it out?

Its snapped flush with the engine. Is it going to be a case of taking the head off and drilling out from the inside or what?

Thanks Again

if you have the inner bit (ie nothing has dropped into the cylinder) and its just the threaded portion, you can use a large easy out to remove it.

youll probably need a 8-10mm one. A quality one on its own from a reputable tool shop will be a few quid.
