Going back to a naked!!

Having owned a few naked bikes including recently a 900 hornet, bandit and a fire bolt. Ive owned a 900 ninja for the last year. However, I want back on a naked asap. It just suits me more. So Im thinking Z1000. Id like a speed triple but am worried about reliability, a tuano wud also be good but again part costs worry me. Any opinions?? Oh I cant afford a cb1000r, so thats outa the question.

I only had the firebolt for 3 months over one summer, intentionally!! Its only good point was its looks and sounds. I just know a few locals that have had probs with triples, even brand new ones. I really would like one tho. Any more opinions much appreciated, thanks

Owned my Speed Triple (07) for about 1 1/2 years now, had little problems.

Paintwork was shite on some parts, got clearcoat re-done.
Fan stopped working, replaced under warrenty.
Bracket munched through some wires, simple fix.

Other than those, no serious issues at all.
Just keeps going.

A mate of mine has one and I rode it from Kent to Southampton for him when we picked it up. It's pretty good, although the lack of fairing annoyed me, and has a decent amount of power through the rev range. The clocks take a bot of getting used to but on the plus side you can get some pretty coloured LEDs and change the colours of the tacho and speedo at will.

He hasn't had any problems with his, although the finish is not the best and requires some work to keep it looking nice. It's pretty easy to hoist the front wheel on, although he has now fitted a Power Commander that gives smoother power, or so he says. He has aftermarket cans as well, which sound pretty nice, although I do like the 4 cans of the older models.

When they present a new model to be type approved for road use it has to pass a battery of emissions tests. These are both pollution emission AND sound emissions. Quite often they will tune a bike to be quieter at certain speeds to pass emissions hence the flat spots.

Also probably helps with noise tests. Think the noise tests are done from half peak power in a specified gear and then full throttle acceleration. If there is a big flat spot then the bike accelerates slower so is quieter.
