I just put road wheels on it (so it now is essentially the rally version like the one in the pic below) and took it for a spin on tarmac* ... OMFG!! 
That thing can shift ... and I am only using 10% ... I have got some 16% to put in it soon!!

It could clearly be down-geared even in road form, but with the big monster truck wheels on it it'd be even better if it was lower ratio as you don't need the speed!
Were I could use it in a more controlled fashion (and get it flat out), I have the mixtures much better tuned now, so should be better in monster mode now!!! 
Sparks! - what is your truck and what is wrong with it?

It's a Traxxas Nitro Stampede, nothing special really but it (used) to go well, same size as yours, down geared it once and it'd wheelie everywhere 
It needs new suspension and 2 new servo's and it *should* be useable again. Dug it out the other day but with the servo's needed I wasn't sure if its worth fixing or not.

Used to have a Kyosho or something... .21 engine buggy thing, did nothing but break I sharp moved on from that hobby as it was costing far too much. I'd love to get back into it when I have a decent job. The friggin fuel was £20 per gallon though!!! And that was about 2 years ago, bet it's loads more now.

What make are the servos? I have quite a few servo shells in my spares box where the gears have gone or the innards have got wet.
To be fair, I have 2 servos you can have, but if we can fix yours with some spares, then all the better - I can then keep the good ones!!

Fuel is expensive, but thankfully they don't really use that much!
Its the breaking bits that suck!!
Its max fun to big jumps, but you are at max risk of damage!!  I am not sure if some of the more expensive ones are more resilient, but at the end of the day there is only a certain amount alli and plastic can take!! 
The CEN seems to be made of bendy plastic, which although means the car is less 'taught' to drive, it should flex a bit instead of snapping instantly!!

I highly recommend a 'Stop Safe'.
I had a nitro racer (Thunder Tiger) and it done around 40mph+ (Slightly tuned and running 25%  )
My remote decided to die on me and the last movement it did was flat out... so off it went flat out across a large car park and smacked straight into a kerb.
It didn't look pretty.
Some new servos, gears and chassis later... it worked
Then the mother ran it over one day when pulling onto the drive. I left it for 5 mins to get some more fuel 
If I had the time and money, I could easily fix it. I need another chassis, remote control and some other stuff.

Cool, looks like you have a proper track there!! ... I wanted a monster truck as it increases the quantity of terrain you can utalise. I found with my buggy that it was either tarmac, dusty stuff or VERY well cut grass and that was it - and there isn't much of that combination (that is fun) around ... with its ride height, at least the truck can go on less 'managed' areas.

A year or two ago I got a nitro buggy and on its first day the Rx batteries came loose and did exactly the same thing ... it cost ~50% of the buggys original cost to get it to a state where I could run it again (bending things where possible and leaving cosmetic stuff).
I know you can get those saver thigns, which is fine if the Tx stops, but surely if the saver is powered by the Rx battery pack, then it still isn't going to save the car in my example?? or does it have an internal power source??

A 'failsafe' as its called just wires in between the reciver and RX batt so it can set the throttle servo to put on the brakes (or how ever you set it) if theres a loss of signal, or the RX battery runs low on power.
Always ran one myself

I bought myself a RC buggy about a month ago, only used it 3-4 times as the first time i took it out it kind of steered towards a lamp post.
A new front differential casing, steering rack and other parts were required.
Mine's only a 3cc i think so not the fastest but it accelerates like nuts.

 I've had an idea!!
I use my truck on a grassed field ... it is really nippy, was wondering HOW nippy ... my cars sat-nav (like most) records things like distance travelled and MAX speed ...
So I am gonna strap my sat nav to the truck and see how fast it really goes!!
Place your bets - now!!!
Gonna try it on the cut grass and then on tarmac ... so I need 2 values!!
Oh and gonna do it running 10% ... might then try with 16%

I used to be into RC cars a few years back.
Had a Tamiya TL-01 for a few years, then moved up to a Rex-X Nitro. I think it was a .21 engine. 3.5 cc revving to 31.5k rpm IIRC. Faster than my mate's smaller .15 engines, good for about 40 ish I seem to recall. Excellent fun.
Definately get a failsafe though, started up mine before and forgot to turn the car's power on. Didn't realise until it was flying down a big hill at my school(Was the best place to take them at the weekend . Fortunately it crashed into a hedge at about 20% throttle. Lesson learnt though.
