After being made Redunadant back in May due to the company I worked for going under I'm now starting to get bored of my current day to day routine...
It consists of, get up-check job agencies/job sites four times a day-randomly blanket bomb local ( and now not so local ) companies with my CV and a cover letter, attend interviews if they come up-housework-Wii...
Occasionally I'll get the bike out if I have money for petrol and ride round to break the boredom, whilst I'm out I take notes of where else to drop my CV off, I'll nip to a mates on the off chance he's up as he works nights mainly, I'll go to other mates works and chat to them if they're on a break, if they aren't I just moon them and move on...
I've now watched every dvd and read every book I have in the house and I have a fair few of each, the Wii is starting to do my swede in, I'm fed up of sending my CV out, I'm fed up of filling in job applications, I'm fed up of job hunting as a whole, and I'm fed up of these four walls *etc etc etc*...
This isn't a rant, it's just a ' I wonder what others are doing in the same situation '...
So what's everyone else up to while and if they are out of work ?... ____________________ Previous Bikes...Honda NSR 125 RR...Kawasaki Zephyr 550...Suzuki SV 1000 S...Yamaha FZ8...Current Bike...Suzuki GSX-R 750... |

Have you thought of some voluntary work? Training? Part time?
Even just be a good neighbour and see if there as old dears wanting their gardens tidied in exchange for a cuppa.
Take up fishing, an inexpensive way of passing the time.
Plenty to do, but it seems you have got into a routine. ____________________ Fallen Angel "Nae sniffing my seat now!!!!! "

Jeff, I can't afford beer let alone petrol half the time mate and petrol is going to get me to interviews beer wont...
Kwaker, training I hadn't thought of tbh, I'll look into that, the old dears round here have either family members or have somebody coming in to do the work or they do it themselves mate, and fishing ? I can't stand it, the last time I went fishing I was eight and we sat there for hours and all we caught was a cold, there's a picture of me sat there with a not so happy look on my face, so I don't think I'll be taking that up again anytime soon...
Good call on the training though... ____________________ Previous Bikes...Honda NSR 125 RR...Kawasaki Zephyr 550...Suzuki SV 1000 S...Yamaha FZ8...Current Bike...Suzuki GSX-R 750... |

I've been a bum since the start of February. Very bored now. Even getting bored of the things I was occupying myself with... Internet, guitars, PS2. Can't afford to spunk the petrol money on random bike rides any more.
I'm fed up, starting to worry but haven't reached depression yet.
Voluntary work is to fill a gap on your CV. Also gets you out of the house. Something like B.T.C.V can be a laugh if you're the out doors type. Did a stint in Wrexham years ago and loved it.
https://www2.btcv.org.uk/
EDIT/ It's not even boredom, I've been doing jobs around the house, putting up sliding doors etc. I just miss the money.

I'll have been out of work for a year in November. I have no problem with boredom, just the dwindling savings. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Sounds like you need a hobby.
I`ve just had 6 weeks off work coz i wanted a break from it all but i`m bored out of my tits already so going back this week.
Dont know what to suggest other than try and do something positive instead of twiddling your thumbs.None of us really get much free time when we`re in jobs and its the one thing we moan about the most.....so make use of the time you`ve got while you can. It`ll be over sooner or later. |

Writing a novel ?...I've thought about it in the past, got as far as characters basic storyline and then lost interest tbh...
I was trying to avoid the ' What do you do work wise ' as I've had many a varying role in my life to date but...I can weld, used to be a site fitter/welder*/read drawings ( although it's been years and they want coded now ) I can run a bakery from start to finish and clean it top to bottom ( worked for two major bakeries ), I can Spray-paint, laquer and wood stain anything from wood-large/small metal machines to bike/car wheels, I've been a cabinet maker aswell and I can actually turn my hand to anything...
But my main role is Warehousing, I can use any forklift on site although I only have Counter balance and Bendi/Flexi licenses and technically they are out of date but some will still accept them as I've done the courses for them, I've managed a team of eight people, and a team of two ( I have a Low tolerance for Numpties though ) I'm a first Aider, I can also handle office based work and I'm good at problem solving...
But there in lies the problem, there are few and far between warehouse jobs around unless you want to work shitty hours or for low pay, I've applied for three jobs in the last eight days that pay decent money with decent hours and without the hassle of being a team leader so fingers crossed on that one...
* I can't think of the job title but I used to be given a drawing and build machines/conveyors from a pile of plate steel-C channel and RSJ's in the corner, anything in size from a shoe box to a couple of houses ( I did a few conveyors that are in the Potteries )... ____________________ Previous Bikes...Honda NSR 125 RR...Kawasaki Zephyr 550...Suzuki SV 1000 S...Yamaha FZ8...Current Bike...Suzuki GSX-R 750... |

I left college in June and went on JSA about 4 weeks ago. The problem I'm having is every job, even the basic jobs like stacking shelves or sales assistant all seem to ask for experience. How can I get work experience if no one will give me a job in the first place?
At the moment I am applying for about 15-20 jobs a fortnight and I have received one letter and one email both stating I haven't got an interview.
I'm getting pretty bored, especially since all my mates left for uni a month ago. I tend to just watch day time TV, browse BCF and play on the xBox.
Funds isn't too much of an issue for me as I've saved up quite a bit of money from working when I was in college and the only outgoing I have is £10 a week rent to my parents. |

I've recently become unemployed for the first time (my business finally succumbed to the recession). I stopped working two weeks ago. The killer is... I've got no driving licence until February, so no going out for a ride, no driving round looking for companies to mailshot my CV, can't even take a dog for a walk in a different place to the usual. Being in the motor trade it's pretty much essential to have a driving licence.
I would (if I had a licence) get a minimum wage driving job just to pass the time as it's incredibly boring being unemployed. As you say, it's a case of getting up, checking in the hope of something to apply for before realising you're worthless and trying to fill the day (I find ADVrider makes a good time filler). I did my first mailshot to all the local franchised dealers last Friday, but due to the postal strike I don't suppose they'll reach the destinations 'til tomorrow. Fingers tightly crossed. ____________________ Current: ZZR1400

Had been out of work a year....am now employed full time
But seriously.
I used to do work on mates bikes for a bit of beer/petrol money when i was bored.
But other than that, did pretty much the same as OP....does get tedious after a while! ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600
