Good effort. Are they any good? I'm thinking about something similar myself.
I bet you couldnt resist losing a couple of thousand miles on that clock while you had it open...? |

Original = gash and quite poor.
New, I'm afraid I side with Matt, it looks a little Casio to me too. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Having had a 7R, the poorly lit dials are the most dated part of the bike in my eyes. Not that you should be looking at the clocks all the time anyway's when out and about enjoying yourself. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

<Insert big SIGH here>
They are not the 'exact' same clocks. I have never said they were. Also the temperature gauge is not 'stuck'...the engine had been running...... thats what happens you know...the needle moves up and down according to temperature of the engine...cant stop it when the ignition is on which it needs to be to turn the lights on....
For the sake of those who are
A) Interested or ..
B) have nothing better to do than pick fault I will explain in full below.
I wanted to do the Illumiglo modification to my clocks. I managed to find the parts from a website in America (as previously mentioned above) after failing to find them over here in the UK.
Being rather fanatical about my bike I had decided I wanted to get a spare pillion seat because I have a rear seat cowl (that fits over seat) and constantly taking it on and off so as the GF could get on was a pain as I was worried it would break clips.
By luck someone on another forums was selling several items from his 7 . I am also wanting to do a HID light conversion on mine so was intending to buy another headlight unit to do a projector light conversion on rather than butcher the one on the bike.
It just so happened he had a seat...lights...and also clocks that had 1454 less miles on than mine. I spoke to him and he wanted the same price for all three as what it would cost to get just the lights alone. I thought...sorted! And snapped his hand off.
Why did I want the clocks you may ask...well as I said I am rather fanatical and mine had a mark just below the temp gauge where the banjo bolt on the front brake had been catching on it when on full left hand lock. Whoever had fitted the braided hoses had not fitted them correctly and it was catching. I figured...hey 1454 miles is not much less so I may as well fit the Illumiglo kit to those and do a straight swap..solving the damaged look problem.
So...I fitted the Illumiglo kit and then set about changing the clocks. Took the fairing off and found that the original clock had a broken mounting due to the brake pipes pushing on it so was pretty pleased I had bought the others which are much better.
So theres the story... I still have the other clocks and wont be getting rid of them..were they original? I have no idea...it was owned by others before me... did they change them? I have no idea...and to be honest...dont really care.
Yes I could have been clever and wound on the replacements easily enough but couldnt be arsed to be honest.
My intention is to never sell the bike. Yes I will be buying another bike one day but have no intention of getting rid of this one. If I ever do have to then rest assured that person will know exactly what I have done and when. Why shouldnt I? Nothing to hide or I wouldnt post it all on here!
I could have trawled Ebay and picked up some clocks with 3000 miles on the clock if I had really wanted to...same as pretty much most can do with 'any' bike.
Hope that settles a few minds although I am sure it will cause more furore than anything else! lol
Andy
PS...if I do sell it...anyone interested?
