GPS transmitter/Route Logger

Does anyone know of a good GPS transmitter with software that can be embedded into for example a Blogpage?

I am planning on doing a couple of tours following my graduation June '10. Firstly will be all way around Scotland to get to grips with touring, then hopefully from Aberdeen to Stavanger via the fun way round Europe.
What I'd really like to have is a transmitter to allow people who know about my trip/care to be able to log on to a simple system that they can see exactly where I am on my journey, and once my trip is complete I can have a mapped out route with waypoints indicating points of interest. (SO I CAN POST IT ON BCF!)

So far I have found:
One with standalone software for up to two computers, not embeddable. (It's for tracking your lost spastics and the like)
One with just a route logger and nothing else.

There's an app for that. .

If you get really stuck, you could use Google Latitude. It can automatically update your location etc etc, you just have to link them together once you're done unless it can do it already, not sure.

All the coolest kids use Spot for RTW stuff these days.

If you don't need to broadcast as you go then a cheapo handheld garmin is the way to go.

Hi

Would be fairly easy to knock up some pda software that just records your position and posts it to a web page when there is a web connection, then you could just provide a page to access the link.

I bought a cheapo PDA from ebay, a gps card and Memory Map software. I have used it to plot the boyfriends flights and gives you distances, waypoints and all that stuff. The Memory Map software is pretty expensive (from £20 for small sections up to £200 for the whole UK in detail) but there are plenty of alternatives. I think TomTom let you buy satnav software that runs on other handheld gps units.

I have no idea if it is embeddable though, never tried it.

If you have a Nokia with S60, Nokia Sports Tracker is quite a cool program. As well as your route, it also plots points at triggered moments, for instance when you take a photo or when your music tracks change.

i use NST on my bike (unpowered type) and it's excellent for sharing routes.

no reason why you cant use in on a m'bike either,

Even if there is an iPhone app for recording a route you take, I'm fairly sure that would kill the battery rather quickly.

However, right now I use my iPhone sometimes for posting to BCF from places on the road including pictures that I have just taken with the phone right then and there and it all works fantastically
