why do things never go smooth when i try to do some work on a bike!
i changed my oil and filter on my zxr750 yesterday and it took me over 30 mins to get the filter off!
today i went to do the plugs, gapped them all to 0.75 as in the book, took the tank and airbox off, only to find out my socket doesnt fit down the hole!!! its a 16mm hex socket as it says in the manual but it is too wide to go down the hole! i went to halfords ( only place open today) and they dont do anything smaller!
so can anyone suggest where i can get an appropriate tool to get my plugs out?
and to top it all off as i was putting the tank back on, i smelt petrol, looked down and the fuel filter has a big crack in it right where the pipe goes in the top, it must have split it when i was moving the tap around!!! Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down
so now i need a new fuel filter too!
not happy!!!

Spark plug spanner

https://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9219180&ecamp=trf-005&CAWELAID=266980614

its like a socket but much thinner bring a spark plug to make sure it fits.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr .... why do Kawasaki do this?!!? Rolling Eyes

I had exactly the same issue with my KLR250!!!

The ONLY thing that would fit in the recess (without modification) is the plug spanner that came with the bikes standard toolkit.

If you still have your bikes toolkit, I am guessing there should be a box spanner in there?!

After some googling, I found this was a common annoyance with the KLR. The 'fix' (once old one was out) was to get some plugs that are the same size/grade, but with a smaller hex, therefore you can get a 'proper' sparkplug socket in there.

I am getting good at crossmatching now, so what are the standard plugs for your bike?

I know this doesn't help with THIS chance, but it will make it a whole lot easier in future!!! Wink

Did you check in the bike tool kit? There is usually one in there. Has been on any kawasaki I've ever owned.

Don't be silly obviously it makes far more sence to measure things in metric.

We meausre everything in metric here, well except speed, and height, and weight, and distance.... but apart from that what have the Romans ever done for us.

If you want some proper nonsense, look closely at what size tyres your bike takes.
