Hi, Very Happy This is my first post and I could use some advice please. My CB250 is running rich and the plugs get really sooty but it starts and runs ok. Is there a way I can weaken the mixture? Cheers. Confused

A worn needle jet and jet needle can cause an over rich mixture, and is something that should be checked if the bike has covered a high mileage.

You may wish to take the option of setting the float height to the maximum figure which will give you a weaker mixture.
For instance if the manual advises 14-16mm then set the height at 16, don't forget to check that float halves are both square and level.

Is the choke full disengaging? A dry and rusty cable or linkage could cause problems.

hondagee, don't fiddle with this, it is the low running mixture and won't solve your problem, if it is idling ok at the moment, all you will end up doing is make it refuse to idle properly!! Wink

As others have said, check the filter as the first port of call, then move onto the main jet and needle jet as they are probably worn.
